Description: The Development Intern will work with the Development staff through the fall with internal events and campaigns that are designed to generate funds for the chapter and create long-term philanthropic partnerships with individuals and corporations in North Carolina and Virginia.

Duties Include:

  • Work with development staff in preparation and execution of internal and external events
  • Outreach to local individuals and businesses for in-kind donations
  • Assist with event logistics
  • Inventory and organization of event supplies
  • Compose thank-you notes and making thank-you phone calls
  • Assist with database entry
  • Maintain the integrity of the database
  • Organization and upkeep of physical and digital files for archive purposes
  • Assist with clerical tasks in the office such as greeting guests and answering the phone
  • Other duties as assigned to support organization mission
 
Position Requirements

Skills/Experience/Education: The ideal intern must have strong people, written and oral communications skills as you will be a key point-of-contact with external contacts. Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Familiarity with a relational database, a plus. Attention to detail and organizational skills are crucial. You must be open to collaboration as well as a self-starter. Above all, we value a strong worth ethic to complete assigned tasks efficiently and effectively. Majoring in communications, event planning, marketing will be helpful in this position.

Compensation/Credit: Internships are unpaid. Easterseals UCP will gladly work with intern to complete forms for colleges and universities to qualify for academic credit. The intern is responsible for pursuing all avenues of securing academic credit.

Length of Internships: Internships typically last 10 to 16 weeks as mutually agreed upon by the intern and Easterseals UCP. Typical internships are 12-20 hours per week and will not exceed 40 hours per week. Hours/daily schedule will be determined on a case-by-case basis with the internship participant.
