SAFY of Lima is seeking a 20 Hour Skills Coach responsible for providing skills coaching to program youth. Coaching focuses directly to the goals of the youth's treatment/intervention plan and may include strategic modeling, skill practice, and positive reinforcement in sessions.

As a Skills Coach you will;

  • Provide skills training to program youth/teenagers. This training may include role playing, teaching, debriefing, or other strategies.
  • Establish strong relationships using modeling and coaching of social skills. Assist with developing positive relational skills with peers, adults and community members.
  • Teach skills that enable youth to solve problems and engage in everyday pro social interactions.
  • Practice new behaviors in fun and reinforcing settings.
  • Orient youth toward socially acceptable activities in the community.
  • Document each session timely and on appropriate forms. Keep daily logs of activities, contacts, intakes and each interaction with the youth.
  • Report all incidents, concerns and issues to direct supervisor. Report emergencies such as runaways, accidents or medical problems.
  • Oversee property management, including room inspections, cleanliness of facility, monitoring of youth and following program rules, polices, and procedures.
  • Oversee meal preparation with youth.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Position Requirements

What you will bring to this role;

  • Education- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Experience- In Human Services, Special Services or Mental Health field, with some knowledge and familiarity of behavioral management principles and ways of facilitating behavior change.
  • Flexibility in schedule, some nights and weekends required.
