Chief Financial Officer 

Description
  • Responsible for management of the Center's financial and administrative functions subject to the direction of the CEO with specific oversight over the strategic planning, organizational and business operations. Evaluate effectiveness and offer guidance for the efficient and effective management of consumer services through growth and change.
  • Participates in strategic planning, development of the business plan, and implementation of the business plan. Monitor ongoing adherence to business plan and openly communicate to the CEO opportunities, weaknesses, and threats and recommended actions. Advise the CEO of strategic business development and key organizational planning issues. Make recommendations on major business decisions. Promote nonviolence and focus on the four aspects of safety (physical, emotional, social and moral).
  • Provides guidance for independent audits. Negotiates with auditors on significant financial issues.
  • Evaluates financial and administrative impact of third party contracts. Provides financial input for contract negotiations.
  • Ensures compliance with standards and regulations issued by government and regulatory agencies.
  • Assesses the financial needs of the Center. Reviews financial statements and business plans. Coordinates with departments to address areas of revenue enhancement and expense reduction through growth and change.
  • Directs, coordinates and reviews the annual budget. Administers the operating and capital budgets.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of financial systems. Provide overall direction for the development and operation of accounting and financial processes and systems.
  • Interviews, selects, trains and evaluates accounting department staff. Establishes performance standards and expectations for the department through social learning.
  • Directs, coordinates and reviews in conjunction with the IT Director, the information technology systems of the Center.
  • Directs, coordinates and reviews the Center's grants.
  • Provides oversight of planning and coordination of capital assets.
  • Adhere to seven recognized Sanctuary commitments which includes social responsibility, social learning, non-violence, open communication, democracy, emotional intelligence, growth and change.
 
Position Requirements
  • Master’s Degree in Business related field or CPA preferred
  • Five years accounting or finance experience
  • Computer skills necessary to utilize custom financial systems and complex spreadsheets
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Analytical skills necessary to independently evaluate complex issues and implement solutions
  • Act 33, 34 and FBI clearances
