Crisis Response Worker - MHST Safe Bed Program

Part Time (Weekends & Mondays) Contract to March 2020

The safe bed program is intended to work collaboratively with our police crisis response teams (MHST) to divert persons in mental health and or addictions crisis from incarceration, the justice system, and or unnecessary hospitalization by providing them with voluntary community crisis accommodation and support. The program provides a psychosocial rehabilitation approach with a focus on recovery.

 
Position Requirements
  • B.S.W. or equivalent education
  • Minimum three years related experience
  • Knowledge and practice of short-term urgent response, psychosocial rehabilitation approach and advanced clinical, crisis and assessment skills are assets.
  • Experience working with individuals having a serious mental illness is essential.
  • Crisis skills for adults and children experiencing a mental health crisis are desirable.
  • Completion of CPI, CPR and ASSIST training as per agency guidelines.
  • Experience and knowledge of the criminal justice system is an asset
  • Knowledge of the local service system is essential
  • Francophone or second language is considered an asset
  • The successful applicant will be required to provide a police clearance that meets agency standard
  • A valid G driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage for business purposes, and reliable vehicle are required for this position.
