Art Therapy Credentialing Board, Inc. (ATCB)

The Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB) was founded in 1993, to protect the public by promoting the competent and ethical practice of art therapy. ATCB manages the credentialing and testing processes of art therapists (in alignment with the AATA) to ensure the professional and high-caliber practice of the profession. The Board supports the thriving, vibrant community of credentialed art therapists and the Executive Director is responsible for administering programs and day to day functions of the Board as described below. POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following responsibilities and duties are a summary of the essential roles and functions of the position. Other duties may be performed as identified by management to achieve department, division, and/or organizational goals.

  • Serves as executive director of the ATCB and provides direct professional executive services on behalf of the Art Therapy board
  • Assists the board in developing and maintaining a long-range strategy which achieves its mission to make consistent and timely progress
  • Provides leadership in developing organizational, programmatic, and financial plans with the Board of Directors and implements these plans and policies as authorized by the board.
  • Performs daily project coordination activities
  • Confers with board members, board attorney, board investigators, organization officials and/or staff members to discuss issues, coordinate activities and resolve problems
  • Analyzes operations to evaluate performance of ATCB or its staff in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement or policy change
  • Directs, plans and implements policies, objectives and activities to maximize efficiency
  • Coordinates board and committee meetings to establish and maintain various licensing efforts and encourages board and committees to keep within established time frames, working with staff members as necessary to incorporate best practices into service development and provision
  • Researches policies and processes of similar boards as needed to establish and refine best practices
  • Performs activities required for planning and implementing meetings and conferences, as needed
  • Assists with applicant and credential holder database development, maintenance, and associated issues
  • Maintains an up-to-date database of consumer/client complaints
  • Hires, trains, and supervises staff for ATCB
  • Work with the ATCB Board to facilitate marketing and social media needs
  • Other duties as assigned
