Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.
When conditions are normal, you can expect to work 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods, you may be expected to work 6 (six) days a week.
We will attempt to offer consecutive days off, and accommodate special scheduling requests, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to satisfy all requests.
Work schedules, staffing levels and weather conditions may dictate when lunches and breaks will be taken.
You must arrange for transportation to work so you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snow packed, and icy road surfaces.
At any time during the ski season, Dodge Ridge employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.
Work is typically outside working directly with resort guests and other resort staff members. It can be noisy, cold, wet, or humid. You may be expected to work in high places and frequently you will work around moving objects. At times you may be inside your lift shack.
A professional appearance at Dodge Ridge is required. Please wear your name tag and uniform at all times during your scheduled shift. We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job, as listed below. The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work. All hats worn must have the Dodge Ridge logo while on shift.
Items you must provide:
-Watch -Departmental shirt (provided by Dodge Ridge)
-Pocketknife -Departmental hat (provided by Dodge Ridge)
-Goggles -Day pack
-Gloves -A lock for your locker
-Warm boots with vibram soles (sorrels, snowboard boots o.k.)
-Ski and or snowboarding equipment (must pass binding release certification; you should be aware that you are responsible for any and all damage to your equipment while at work.)
-You will be expected to maintain high professional appearance and personal hygiene.
-No smoking or chewing tobacco while in uniform.
When off duty, the skiing/riding employee represents a model for safe skiing/riding for both the guest and fellow employees. You are required to be aware of all safe skiing/riding procedures, trail closures, and out of bounds policies.
