We are focused on supporting people with complex needs associated with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/ or behavioral health challenges.

Medical administrative assistants play an essential role on the I Am Boundless, Inc. residential nursing team. The Medical Administrative Assistant reports to the Supported Living Registered Nurse and will perform clerical work to support the residential nursing team. The Medical Administrative Assistant is responsible for keeping all resident’s medical files organized and current and handles administrative duties, such as answering phones and scheduling appointments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Screen callers, arrange meetings, manage mail/email/facsimiles and other correspondence and ensure correspondence is accurate, complete and properly handled.

  • Schedule and coordinate appointments for individuals.

  • Screen phone calls and route callers to the appropriate party.

  • Communicate effectively with all staff.

  • Ability to identify problems and seek appropriate guidance.

  • Update and file medical records.

  • Notifies staff of needed medical appointments

  • Works directly with nursing team.

  • Refills medications and orders medical supplies.

  • Deliver medications to home locations.

  • Attend individual’s medical appointments as needed.

  • Be aware of HIPAA.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

Required Education, Skills & Experience

High School graduate or equivalent.

Must have good attention to detail and the ability to function effectively under deadlines, changing priorities and the ability to work in a team environment.

Strong customer service skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & Outlook,

Preferred Licensure/Certifications

CPR, First Aid, and Medical Administration

Preferred Education, Skills & Experience

Two years' experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.

Medical assistant experience or administrative assistant experience.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Proficient with E-charts, and Streamline.

Special Skills & Requirements:

Must be able to communicate in English – including spoken (either face-to-face or over the phone) and in writing

Must be detail oriented and have competent literacy and writing, documentation, communications and interpersonal abilities.

Must have excellent attention to detail and extremely organized

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is rare, but primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected on occasion.
