About the Organization CP Rochester and Happiness House are private nonprofit health, educational, residential and human service organizations that have been serving communities in the Finger Lakes Region since 1969 and the Greater Rochester Area since 1946. Today with sites in Rochester, Canandaigua, Geneva, Gorham, Midlakes and Waterloo, our agencies offer an array of educational, therapeutic, recreational, residential and family support programs and services for children and adults with and without disabilities. On average, our agencies serve 3,650 families each year and employ approximately 600 people.


Our staff consists of dedicated and knowledgeable professionals and clinicians with expertise in the areas of Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Physical, Occupational, Speech and Music Therapies, Psychology, Service Coordination, Nursing, Dental Services, and Developmental Disabilities.

Description

Full Time/School Year Position (including 6 week summer program) 37.5 hours per week at both Geneva and Canandaigua sites.

  • Mon, Tues, Wed - AM at Canandaigua site, PM at Geneva site
  • Thurs, Fri - AM at Geneva site, PM SLP where needed

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Master's degree and Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred.
  2. Licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in New York State.
  3. Experience working with preschool age children or other individuals with development disabilities preferred.
  4. Valid New York State driver's license.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Upholds New York State Education Law/Practice Act as relating to the practice of speech therapy.
  2. Teaches the Early Intervention Developmental Toddler classrooms at both sites.
  3. Develops an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) worksheet for each child on caseload based on the goals identified at the initial IFSP meeting.
  4. Develops an educational program in conjunction with other team members and parents, which will meet the individualized goals and developmental needs of each child.
  5. Provides appropriate services to each child on caseload according to county Department of Health regulations.
  6. Evaluates each child's instructional program on an on-going basis so that necessary updates and revisions can be made at IFSP meetings.
  7. Screens individuals to determine speech and language strengths and need for further speech and language evaluation.
  8. Obtains appropriate permission and approval for evaluations to be conducted.
  9. Evaluates individuals on caseload through testing, observations, parental and team input and medical information.
  10. Carries out treatment programs, developed after evaluation, which are designed to meet individual's IEP goals or IFSP outcomes.
  11. Schedules speech language therapy sessions for individuals, individually in small groups and in the classroom or community.
  12. Consults with the teacher, as well as other members of the interdisciplinary team as appropriate, to facilitate delivery of coordinated quality services to individuals.
  13. Works with parents as integral members of the interdisciplinary team at school as well as in the home setting.
