Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Partnership and Operations, the Manager/Senior Manager, Development is responsible for the division’s proposal and reporting activities for all prospects and funding partners. Working with internal stakeholders, the Manager/Senior Manager will ensure the quality and timeliness of proposals and reports and ensure a smooth review and concurrence process. The Manager/Senior Manager will also work with internal stakeholders to monitor progress of funded activities throughout the grant period.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serves as division lead for all proposals and reports. Develops effective and compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and grant reports. Assigns duties related to these processes to other staff, as needed.
  • Monitors grants and reports from inception to completion and provides status updates to internal departmental stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes and deliverables within established deadlines. Identifies key areas of time, schedule and budgetary risk for the overall Resource Development project portfolio. Advise division leaders on areas for special attention, review, and improvement.
  • Works closely with the Financial Planning and Contracts division, the Office of the General Counsel, and the Chief Operating Officer to ensure smooth review and concurrence processes.
  • Works closely with program staff to monitor funded activities to ensure all deliverables will be completed as proposed in the grant timeline. When necessary, will elevate to division leadership to address.
  • Manages and maintains the grant calendar and ensure that all proposals and reports are submitted on time. Liaises with Senior Specialist, Development Operations on grant and report calendar management.
  • Works closely with program staff and the fundraising team to stay up to date on programs and needs, for the purpose of coordinating and supporting resource development efforts, as well as developing specific fundraising strategies for existing programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Works closely with division leadership and Senior Specialist, Development Operations to institute a wide range of administrative processes and project management workflows necessary to manage proposal and report writing and other Resource Development initiatives.
  • Manages miscellaneous projects relating to writing, narratives, content, cultivating external relationships, etc.
  • Assist with the development of presentations to prospective funders.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

NeighborWorks America staff, network member organizations, and regional and national partners.

 
Position Requirements

Required Minimum Qualifications:
(a) Education:
Bachelor’s degree or work experience that demonstrates the acumen, knowledge, and skills required to perform at a high degree in the position. Will consider relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.
(b) Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience involving demonstrated abilities in successful proposal writing, effective stewardship, and workflow management.

(c) Licenses, Certifications: PMP certification preferred, but not required.
(d) Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Proven ability to take content and data from various internal units to craft proposals and produce compelling reports that show return on investment to partners;
  • Highly proficient in time management and proven ability to forecast work load based concurrence pipeline; Interpersonal skills required to work effectively across other divisions, a strong track record of collaboration across all levels of the organization, and the ability to seek and incorporate input from a variety of stakeholders;
  • Proven ability to hold others (cross divisional) accountable for deliverables to ensure timely submission of proposals and reports;
  • Able to work independently;
  • Commitment to the mission of NeighborWorks America and its network.

(f) Technology: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with fundraising software packages.

Preferred Qualifications: A master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Working Conditions:
(a) Travel: Up to twenty percent (20%). Occasional weekend or evening work may be required.
(b) Physical/Sensory Demands: Fast paced working environment, extensive computer usage. Able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Special Provisions:
Occasional work outside of normal business hours, such as weekends and evenings is required.
