Description

YOUR ROLE:

Progressive AE's multi-family housing and retail team is growing! We're looking for a Graduate Architect with strong Revit and AutoCAD skills and 3 years of experience to help support our growing housing and retail group.

  • You are an aspiring professional that has completed your formal Architectural education and are working toward Architectural Registration.
  • You will support the Architectural team in helping to develop design concepts and create accurate documentation in all phases within the established design principles, project budget, and schedule.
  • You should possess a good knowledge of generating and translating design concepts into final solutions and have the ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary project team. You will receive the assistance necessary to fulfill the Architectural Experience Program (AXP) and become licensed.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Project Quality

  • Act as an active team member in all phases of the design process including predesign, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, bidding and construction administration.
  • Assist in the development of design, graphic presentations, and 3D renderings.
  • Utilize hand sketching techniques to communicate design concepts.
  • Participate in Design charrettes.
  • Assist in preparation of documentation in all phases of the design process.
  • Assist the architectural staff with the conceptual and technical design documentation of projects.
  • Support in the coordination of building systems with consultants, confirmation of conformance with all applicable codes, and support the interface with municipal building department and other governing agency officials to coordinate approvals with senior staff.
  • Provide technical design support to project team members.
  • Participate in the development of project specifications and their coordination with the drawings.
  • Check completed reports, submittals, drawings, estimates and calculations for accuracy with support from senior staff.
  • Support communication and coordination with all disciplines, consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure adherence to the contract documents and provide support as necessary.
  • Self-check work for accuracy, completeness and clarity prior to review by senior staff.
  • Seek to learn the overall strategy for producing the documents and assists in identifying the content of the deliverables at each stage of the work.
  • Coordinate the use of shared electronic documentation/ files with internal and external project team members including clients, contractors and consultants.
  • Accompany and assist others in the conduction of field observations to monitor progress of construction.
  • Assist in executing changes to the contract documents.
  • Act as an ambassador for company-wide values and ethical standards of practice.
  • Attend professional development activities including “Lessons Learned” sessions.

  • Work with senior staff to ensure your work effort is in line with the overall project budget.

Position Requirements

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent in education and experience required for professional licensure. Master’s Degree in Architecture, preferred.
  2. 3 - 5 years of post-graduate architectural experience.
  3. Working toward registration and licensure. Must be committed to passing required exams and completing Architectural Experience Program [AXP].
  4. NCARB registration, preferred.
  5. Associate AIA, preferred.
  6. Committed to continuous learning. You will be asked to seek additional certifications, including but not limited to, CSI-CDT and LEED-AP
  7. Basic knowledge of the architectural design and documentation process. Some knowledge of architectural building systems. Some knowledge of sustainability and other trends in the design/construction industry.
  8. Willingness to learn and participate in quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes.
  9. Willingness to learn building codes and ability to assist in conducting research into requirements that may need to be incorporated into technical documents.
  10. Strong skills in SketchUp, Revit/AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign are required.
  11. Some proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook required.
  12. Must possess the ability to communicate and collaborate professionally with people both internally and externally at all levels of the organization(s) they represent.
  13. Ability to work effectively with project team members.
  14. Must have the ability to effectively meet deadlines
  15. Self-motivated with proven ability to:
    • Multi-task and work well under tight deadlines.
    • Exhibit foresight in recognizing potential problems and pro-actively develop solutions.
    • Desire to learn, take leadership and grow within the organization.
