Description

The Food and Beverage Department is a team-oriented department focused on providing our guests with excellent customer service and a pleasurable dining experience.

The Grill Cook has a key role in providing our guests with excellent customer service at Dodge Ridge. The Grill Cook is one of the first employees to arrive at the mountain, beginning their morning taking and filling Breakfast & Lunch orders for our guests. The Grill Cook has the responsibility to interact pleasantly and professionally with guests while busily preparing and serving food orders. This position may be located at the Creekside Lodge, Outside BBQ or Locals mid-mountain restaurant.

Working as a team member and focusing on fulfilling our guest's needs are the key roles for the Grill Cook.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

This job description is intended as a summary of the primary responsibilities of and the qualifications for the position.   1. Demonstrate an on-going commitment to delivering excellent customer service. This involves interacting with guests in a courteous manner, and being able to answer questions professionally.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to cook eggs, burgers. grilled sandwiches and other food items related to serving and preparing in a faced pace environment.
  3. Fill breakfast and lunch orders as they come in, while making the plates neat and appetizing.
  4. Keep work area neat and clean, this includes, but is not limited to other areas including the french fryer, grill, gas bbq, flat top, all counter area's both top and bottom, floor, all areas around grill, flat top, fryers, freezer, and the changing of the oil and stocking of all incoming supplies in a timely manner.
  5. Cooperate with other cooks and line workers in order to get our customers fed efficiently.
  6. Help put away supplies.
  7. Clean tables and empty garbage, clean up work area, and take dirty dishes to dish room.
  8. Restock plates and utensils as needed.
  9. Pull meat, bread, french fries, potatoes, chicken, etc for the next day as needed.
  10. Rotate, label and control food usage.
  11. Maintain waste sheet.
  12. Follow daily production sheets and complete at end of day.
  13. Help keep dish room clean.
  14. Garnish line for presentation.
  15. Present specials as needed.
  16. Must wear a hat and have hair tied back, gloves, nametag, Dodge Ridge work shirt, and non-slip shoes
  17. Practice safe food handling.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Good organizational skills
  • Must be well groomed and present a good public image.
  • Good physical condition as this position may require shoveling, lifting and carrying.
  • Good manual and physical dexterity skills.
  • Safety and risk orientated.
  • Requires the skills of a host.  This involves approaching guests in a courteous manner, inquiring if they have any questions and being able to respond professionally.
  • Comply with all departmental and company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible use and care of all kitchen and food service equipment.
  • Strong cooking skills with egg pans, broiler operations, etc
  • Ability to possess “California Food Handlers Card”

Work Schedules

Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.

When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.  During busy periods, you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.  This position has part-time schedules available. 

You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time.  Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road surfaces.

  • This is a seasonal position
  • In-season work scheduling is dynamic and dependent upon business levels
  • Scheduled work day hours vary from 2 hours to 10 hours dependent on business levels

Working Conditions

At any time during the ski season, Dodge Ridge employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.

Work is typically performed indoors working with food and other resort staff members and it can be noisy. At times, you may be expected to work outside were it can be cold, wet, or humid.  There is also the possibility of working around moving objects and occasionally may be required to assist with snow removal using a snow shovel

Uniforms

A professional appearance at Dodge Ridge is required.  Please wear your name tag and uniform at all times during your scheduled shift.  We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job.  However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job, as listed below.  The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work.  All hats worn must have the Dodge Ridge logo while on shift.

About the Organization Dodge Ridge, located in Tuolumne County, is a complete winter sports area featuring downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing with 60 runs, 12 lifts, 1600' vertical, groomed trails, two restaurants, adult and children programs, and rentals.

Tuolumne County is the recreational and cultural center of the Gold Country, offering a variety of outdoor activities including skiing, biking, hiking, rafting, fishing, camping, and more. The arts, theater, museums, and entertainment abound. Located two hours from the Bay Area, the Sierra Nevada foothills area is uncrowded, where the comfortable lifestyle exists at a more than comfortable price.
