Underwriters evaluate the risk of insuring a potential Dominion National customer and use that information to set premium rates for insurance policies. Summary: The Underwriter will be responsible for pricing benefit plans, renewal underwriting, prospect dental and vision rate development, experience analysis, and generating various reports. The underwriter will also provide advice to Sales Managers, present information to groups, and work with management on financial performance. This individual will prepare rate quotations, exhibits, and analyses for prospective groups, rate renewals and benefit changes for current groups, based on dental underwriting methodology and rating model; consult with the management team in support of renewal rate actions and quotes; coordinate and develop rating models and analytical tools on book of business; perform other duties as assigned.   Position Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Underwriter will, at a minimum, possess the following credentials: Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field. 0- 3 years of work experience. High comfort level with math/numbers. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Understanding of database structures and reporting financial information, and the ability to manipulate and analyze data. At least one year work experience with dental or health underwriting/actuarial functions (a plus). Knowledge of SQL (a plus).
