EMT - Emergency Medical Technician/Security - Per Mar Security Services

Job Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide security and medical emergency response for the client's property, operations and employees in accordance with the requirements of the client contract and state and local regulations.

*Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform all Post Order duties as specified in the Per Mar Post Orders.
  2. Report all hazards, incidents, on the job injuries and maintain all daily security logs and reports as required by Per Mar Post Orders.
  3. Possess a thorough knowledge of basic security officer duties as described in Post Orders.
  4. Wear the full and properly maintained uniform on all assignments. (No non-issue items may be worn without Branch Manager approval)
  5. Carry or wear on your person state security license, Per Mar ID Card and EMT Certification Card.
  6. Adhere to all Per Mar and CNH policies and procedures.
  7. All other duties as assigned by nurse, site supervisor, client or branch manager.
  8. Must stay current in EMT certification and provide Branch Office a copy-of CPR and Basic First Aid.
  9. Adhere to, be aware of and follow all safety procedures and proper use of all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  10. Only provide medical treatment that you are certified in.
  11. Annual Blood Borne Pathogens Training by Branch Office.

Position Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or GED is required.
  2. One to three months of related experience and training is preferred.


  1. Must have basic computer skills.
  2. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in addition to customer service skills. 
  3. Must be detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks.
  4. Must be capable of handling stressful situations without decreasing productivity.
  5. Must be physically able to perform all Security Officer duties on all shifts and the site(s) supervised, and available to physically stand post for each shift as needed.
  6. Must adhere to, be aware of and able to follow all safety procedures and proper use of all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  7. Must possess sufficient supervisory and clerical skills to perform essential job functions as listed above.
  8. Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, short correspondence, and memos. Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  9. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  10. Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.  Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  1. Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  2. Must be able to obtain security license according to company policy.

  3. Must have a current license appropriate to conduct EMT duties according to the state of employment.
