What are we looking for in an Office Coordinator / Mental Health Assistant?

The Office Coordinator / Mental Health Assistant provides general administrative assistance for the Corrections clinic, which includes answering phones and greeting visitors, scheduling appointments, data entry, and processing records. This position serves as the primary customer service representative for inmates, Comprehensive staff, Yakima County Department of Corrections, medical service providers, managed care companies, and the public. This position requires strong interpersonal & communication skills and the ability to multitask with frequent disruptions. As this position is located at the Yakima County Jail, the Office Coordinator / Mental Health Assistant must be comfortable working with inmates within a corrections setting.

Office Coordinator / Mental Health Assistant duties may include:

  • coordinating with the Yakima County Dept. of Corrections, the County’s medical service providers, managed care companies, other service providers, and Comprehensive staff regarding all clinic & medication services
  • providing clerical support to the Corrections team, including answering phones, relaying messages, and distributing mail
  • scheduling appointments and coordinating provider schedules
  • entering and maintaining accurate client records and other documentation
  • assisting inmates with the completion of intake and other agency paperwork
  • recording inmate service requests & appointments within the MS Access database
  • developing and maintaining a positive working relationship with Dept. of Corrections staff and partners
 
Position Requirements

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED and two years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
