About the Organization Hill Country Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Centers is a unit of local government and a not-for-profit, 501C provider of Mental Health and Intellectual Developmental Disabilities, Substance Abuse, and Veteran Peer Services throughout the greater Texas Hill Country Region. Hill Country MHDD Centers is designated to be the Mental Health Authority by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority by the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) for a 19 County Service Area including: Bandera, Blanco, Comal, Edwards, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Llano, Mason, Medina, Menard, Real, Schleicher, Sutton, Uvalde and Val Verde Counties. With a Mission of Promoting Independence, Community Integration and Recovery, HCMHDD Centers operates (10) ten Mental Health Clinics, (8) Developmental Disability Centers and serving a population of over 630,349 consumers within 22,593 square miles.

Job Title: Registered Nurse (Hays/Comal)

Hill Country Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Centers strongly believes that every individual deserves the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential. At the present time, we are looking for a qualified candidate to fill the role of Registered Nurse (RN) serving in our Hays and Comal IDD Centers. The right candidate will be responsible for providing compassionate care, treatment and general welfare of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to comply with HCS, TXHMLIVING principles, DADS community standards, HHSC standards and the Texas Administrative Code.

The RN will also administer medication as ordered by physician; maintain and document medical care in individual records; monitor and evaluate health status of individuals and perform routine medical treatments. This person also observes, oversees, and monitors the use/implementation of Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior (PMAB) interventions for appropriate use and safety.

You will be an advocate for the whole community with disabilities. Those most successful in this position are empathetic, patient, prudent and care for the individuals served in a way that encourages their interdependence and inclusion in the community.

Position Requirements

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • License to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with individuals and Supervisor
  • Well organized with excellent time management skills
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
  • Prior work experience in a mental health/psychiatric treatment setting within the last 5 years is preferred

Certificates/Licenses:

  • Current RN License in Texas in good standing
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Current Automobile Insurance

Compensation $25.00 per hour - $52,000 annually
