Lead Groundskeeper, Academy Museum  

Description
  • Performs tasks for the management of landscapes, including lawns, palm trees, small trees, groundcovers, shrubs and annual/perennial color displays.
  • Performs skilled grounds maintenance work involved in planting, cultivating, trimming, pruning, fertilizing and irrigating trees, shrubs, hedges and lawns; waters lawns and plants by hand as needed.
  • Performs weed abatement and other grounds-related functions.
  • Operates groundskeeping power equipment as necessary.
  • Coordinates and assists with the clearing of trash and other debris.
  • Coordinates and participates in the maintenance of DG (decompose granite), walk ways, sidewalk, fences, and other areas.
  • Assist with special events set-up and breakdowns and performs other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • Two (2) years grounds or maintenance related experience.
  • Occasionally work various shifts including weekends and holiday.
  • Knowledge of grounds care techniques.
  • Knowledge of grounds equipment, maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Sprinkler system experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of irrigation system and maintenance is a plus.
  • Knowledge of proper caring for decompose granite is a plus.

Ability to:

  • Operate grounds-related equipment and tools.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with peers, subordinates, supervisors, administrator, customers and visitors.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and heights.
  • Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Kneel/bend/stoop/squat for extended periods of time.
