About the Job

Primary responsibilities are to maintain customer service levels above 98.5% while optimizing inventory levels. Under the direction of the Director, Service Parts Center, the Manager of Materials will manage the provisioning, planning, ordering, recording and tracking of all inventory and Materials, required to support the DFJ Distribution customer base. In addition, the Manager of Materials is responsible for maintaining DFJ pricing to maximize profits while maintaining customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day to day activity of the Materials Department, including, Planning and Purchasing
  • Monitor the workload of the Department ensuring that the Department is adequately staffed
  • Understand the company forecast and sales plan and establish the inventory plan and inventory forecast
  • Measure variances to inventory plan. Manage the Sales & Operations process
  • Promote the development of the Department staff ensuring that training is adequate
  • Through close communications with Manager of Materials Department in the Eastern Hemisphere, ensure that procedures are consistent whenever possible
  • Optimize worldwide inventory for all types of materials, through review of the company forecast (pre-sales & operations meeting), planned usage/lead times/annual dollar expense projections
  • Perform periodic reviews of materials in inventory to determine possible excess or obsolescence
  • Monitor the Materials Department workload and insure that the Department is adequately staffed
  • Manage the department purchasing process and insure that TAT is minimized. Coordinate purchasing actions with DAFS and DSC
  • Manage the rotable group and optimize the use of the rotable pool. Monitor Vendor Due-Ins
  • Manage and optimize the pricing strategy of the company in conjunction with DAFS
  • Maintaining constant surveillance of all shortages with the intent of minimizing their effect and eliminating future occurrences
  • Manage the department budget and minimize expenses
  • Responsible for the preparation of Inventory expense and capital budgets and projects or forecast of inventory dollar positions
  • Other duties may be assigned by management as-needed
 
Position Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Four year college degree or equivalent aviation experience
  • Five years of supervisory experience
  • Ten years experience in Aircraft Customer Support Programs
  • Ten years experience in Material field with increasing responsibility preferred
  • Advanced-level proficiency in the use of PC Windows business software (Microsoft Office preferred)
  • Five years experience in aircraft spare part support programs
  • Three years experience with financial statements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal/external customers and repair agent/vendors in a professional manner.
