Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (SHC) is a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic, co-educational college preparatory secondary school located in the heart of San Francisco, California. SHC is a San Francisco Archdiocesan High School that is cosponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, District of San Francisco New Orleans and the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Province of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Description

As the Facilities Manager, the primary purpose is to oversee building & grounds maintenance, custodial functions, and campus security/safety and event management. This is a year round (12 month position).

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

General Facilities Management:

  • Must be physically present on campus grounds to perform essential functions.
  • In consultation with the Director of Campus Operations helps to oversee the budget for the schools facilities and helps plan for future years budget.
  • In conjunction with the maintenance staff, assist in the execution of daily repair and maintenance requests, event set up and breakdowns and needs.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of all necessary supplies and parts for maintenance, custodial and security. Keeping purchases within budgetary guidelines.
  • Coordinate and schedule routine maintenance and interact with the custodial service contractor.
  • Oversee the scheduling, and monitor repair service calls, including oversight of the work done by outside service providers.
  • Oversee the scheduling of regular preventative maintenance of all mechanical equipment.
  • In consultation with the Director of Campus Operations oversee contracts for janitorial and security services.
  • Oversee online work order system and visitor check-in system.
  • Respond to maintenance requests from staff
  • Meet with Leadership as needed to discuss facilities topic.
  • Assist with the process of daily arrival and dismissal to ensure the safety of students and flow of traffic
  • Supervise day-to-day departmental work activities by delegating, assigning and prioritizing work flow; monitor operating standards and quality control.

Environmental and Safety Regulations and Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Director of Campus Operations ensure the school’s compliance with applicable federal, state and local environmental and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the Schools campus trash, recycling and composting responsibilities.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Campus Operations assist with Emergency Operations plans and execution; Maintain emergency equipment and supplies.
  • Regularly inspect all work areas to ensure that no safety hazards exist.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Campus Operations, assist with managing the school’s security systems.
  • In conjunction with the Security team assist with security cameras and operations.

Personnel Management:

  • Supervise Maintenance and Janitorial staff and assist Director of Campus Operations in overseeing Kitchen, Security and rentals staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Operations

Position Requirements

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

  • B.A./B.S. or equivalent work experience in relevant area;
  • Requires 3-5 years experience working as a facility manager, preferably in a school setting;
  • Must have experience managing a team;
  • Excellent writing, communication and grammar skills;
  • Must be highly proficient in G Suite, excel and other technologies;
  • Proactive communicator;
  • Requires a valid CA driver's license with a clean record and the ability to drive the school vehicle;
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized and willing to take initiative;
  • Know how to use basic tools, basic repairs;
  • Must be proactive;
  • Must have excellent teamwork skills;
  • Working knowledge or building systems and repairs;
  • Ability to repair basic school equipment ie; light bulbs, painting, plumbing etc.;
  • Must have knowledge of commercial HVAC systems;
  • Requires the ability to work well with children and adults;
  • Must be a role model in embracing and living out the School’s mission;
  • Experience with independent schools preferred and
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
