SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Assistant Athletic Director/Fitness Center Director

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises student workers as appropriate.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Intramural/Fitness Center Intern is responsible for the overall program of the Moravian College intramural program. The intern will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a variety of indoor/outdoor recreational events, tournaments and leagues. Work involves coordinating and monitoring athletic programs that are fair for all involved, recreational in nature, fun, and safe. Position is responsible for all staffing and managing of intramural events and programs under charge. Responsible for growing and improving existing programs and developing and launching new programs. Position will also play an integral role in assessing the students' recreational needs and tracking participants.

The Intramural/Fitness Center Intern will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of the campus fitness center. Responsibilities include administrative oversight, scheduling, programming and special events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the Assistant Athletic Director/Fitness Center Director in operations of Intramurals and the Fitness Center.

  • Meet with the Assistant Athletic Director/Fitness Center Director to create a social media marketing and promotion calendar.

  • Develop,publicize, and manage a yearly schedule of intramural offerings.

  • Provide supervision of intramural leagues and campus recreation special events.

  • Assess the student body to determine if recreational needs/wants are met and gather data to alter programming to meet needs.

  • Hire, supervise and evaluate student-employees to assist with the implementation of intramural programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelors degree required.

  • Demonstrated experience in the management of intramurals is a plus, including supervisory experience and knowledge of officiating techniques. This position requires critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently. Must work constructively and collaborate with colleagues in across campus.

  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)

  • Depth perception and the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships

  • Adjustable focus
