The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will be the world’s premier museum dedicated to the art and science of movies. Located at Wilshire and Fairfax in Los Angeles, the Museum will be simultaneously immersive, experimental, educational, and entertaining. More than a museum, this dynamic film center will offer unparalleled experiences and insights into movies and moviemaking.

Under the supervision of the Security Supervisor, this position is an outstanding opportunity for the right candidate to join the operations team at the Academy Museum (not including the Academy).

The candidate must be able to work a va;riable schedule to include weekends and holidays. The scheduled hours may change weekly due to museum events.

Job Functions: Night Shift ( 11:30 pm - 8:00 am)

Security Officer- Level 1

  • Assigned to regular or special posts; assignments may change daily and without notice
  • Observe, detect and reports on any suspicious activity, safety hazards or damage to property
  • Enforces Academy Museum security policies and procedures using good judgment and excellent public relations skills. Refers unresolved concerns or issues to shift supervisor
  • May respond to incidents and emergency calls
  • Participates in training for all museum personnel on a periodic basis and assist with annual drills in compliance with applicable laws

Security Officer- Level 2 (all above) plus:

  • Maintains high visibility while on assignment
  • Ensures that all business appointments are verified and that staff members are contacted upon arrival
  • Observe, detect and reports on any suspicious activity, safety hazards or damage to property
  • This position requires standing for long periods of time (up to 6 hours per shift)

Security Officer- Level 3 (all the above) plus:

  • Experience working with in a Security Control Room or call center is preferred
  • Monitors various security related systems such as alarm systems, video surveillance and fire alarm annunciator panel in the Control Room
  • Dispatches alarm activations with specific information to Security staff over the radio to on duty Security staff when necessary
  • Uses radio channels and responds to requests for assistance and service
  • Notifies local agencies for assistance such as Fire, Police and others for emergency assistance when necessary
  • Relief Supervisor duties as needed
 
Position Requirements

Security Officer- Level 1

  • 1+ years of experience as a security officer with a museum, event or public performance venue, or similar institution preferred
  • Experience interacting with general public in a professional manner- courtesy, positive demeanor and good judgement
  • Experience in building evacuations and emergency response preferred
  • This position requires standing for long periods of time (up to 6 hours per shift)

Security Officer- Level 2 (all the above) plus:

  • Experienced working in a Business or Employee entrance lobby
  • Experience issuing staff or visitor ID badges and maintaining a daily accountability log

Security Officer- Level 3 (all the above) plus:

  • 2+ years of experience as a security officer with a museum, event or public performance venue or similar institution is preferred
  • Experience working with in a Security Control Room or call center is preferred
  • Monitors various security related systems such as alarm systems, video surveillance and fire alarm annunciator panel in the Control Room
