Share Email Opening Title Equipment Operator/CDL - Solid Waste  Description Position reports to Solid Waste Foreman. Drives a designated route to pick up refuse. Assures that all containers are emptied on a scheduled basis. Assures that assigned vehicle is driven in a responsible manner in terms of safety of the general public by avoiding accidents that might harm life or property. Responsible for keeping trucks cleaned properly. Monitors the condition of the truck and reports malfunctions to supervisor such that mechanical problems can be corrected by the shop from a preventative maintenance standpoint.   Position Requirements Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Must possess a valid CDL driver's license. Must have good oral and written communication skills. Should be knowledgeable with regard to equipment used Must have 1 to 2 years experience in driving similar equipment and/or experience in refuse collection.   Physical/Environmental Requirements The environmental working conditions of this position include constantly working outside and around hazardous machinery. Also, position involves frequently working around loud and low noise and high temperatures and occasionally working around low temperatures and vibrations.
