About the Organization Faith Comes By Hearing is an Audio Bible ministry based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our vision is to get God's Word to every person, and we do this by recording Audio Bibles in every language and freely sharing them using the latest technology. We currently offer recordings in more than 1000 languages spoken by nearly 6 billion people around the world. We are looking for talented and skilled candidates to join us as we fulfill the Great Commission.

The purposes for which Faith Comes By Hearing is organized are wholly religious and include the following: To proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord in all that we do. The Corporation's Statement of Faith is as follows: Trusting in Jesus Christ as our Savior, we believe in: 1. The Bible as the inspired Word of God; 2. The Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, God's Son; 3. The vicarious death of Jesus Christ for our sins, His bodily resurrection, and His personal return; 4. The presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the work of regeneration.

The role of the Text Processor requires adaptability and problem solving to help the Script Assembly team complete CORE Scripts efficiently and with excellence, as well as, the preparation of texts for use on the Digital Bible Platform (DBP) and in other formats for distribution of the Bible in its written form.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Database Language research: specifics of the language for text preparation, appropriate agreements or restrictions for public display. Also research any language specific notes and fonts for language folders. This may require communication with the International Department as well as Language Recording Department(LRD);
  • Online research: fonts, orthography, or other language questions;
  • Prepare the CORE Scripts as an electronic text from various sources such as Web-PDFs, scanning printed texts, or from the FTP Transfer folder. The created text must have the proper formatting and marking necessary for use in the Paratext program. Removing components of the text that are not used in the recording process such as footnotes, cross references, section headings, etc. and saving the text for Digital Bible Platform (DBP) use. The removal of specific markers may require the creation of formulas when current formulas are unable to do so;
  • Create a Digital Bible Library (DBL) bundle of the text from Paratext to be used in Glyssen for scripting.
  • Be proficient with the use of Glyssen and Nitro to produce a CORE-Script - helping the developers with continual feedback during the testing phase.
  • File conversion: SFM files to USFX/XML document; Non Unicode files to Unicode;
  • Organizing skills: creation of language folders with MS Word Document, the CORE Script template, the Script Assembly Note Spreadsheet, Font files, and language specific notes from research for the scripter as well as DBP;
  • Troubleshoot any issues in the script assembly process (e.g. building a unique character alphabet and training each character in the image as a particular letter in the language alphabet.; other challenges include: lack of punctuation in Biblical text, orthographies that are unique to one individual language, scanning and converting printed texts which contain smudges and missing print, attempting to solve unique font issues for languages to be used on application, etc.);
  • Problem solve when necessary, by communicating with LRD or the International Department in order to find necessary information (e.g. finding punctuation markers, word meanings, fonts, etc.);
  • Apply quality control checks on each completed CORE Script for accuracy in formatting, text, etc.;
  • Prepare electronic texts for the DBP, post in the appropriate folder and send notifications to appropriate departments.
  • Checking live texts on the following browsers: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, IPhone app, Android app, Mobile Web;
  • Database entries from information gathered on all prepared texts, including verification of texts from the checking of live texts on the listed browsers.

  • Assembling Scripts:
    • Prepare the MS Word document to personal preferences in order to ease the scripting process.
    • Interpret electronic text and decipher quotes, character lines, additional text, etc.
    • Insert additional lines, delete unnecessary lines, and combine lines in order to make CORE Script match the target language.
    • Divide MS Word document into speaker lines and paste them into CORE Script.

  1. Working knowledge of an electronic file management system
  2. Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
  3. High attention to detail; accurate and attentive to established protocols
  4. Basic understanding of Windows, Excel, and Word
  5. Ability to use proper judgment and problem solving skills
  6. Ability to read and hear phonetically and follow text
  7. A heart for the mission and a team player


  1. Familiarity with Regular Expressions and basic programming.
  2. Experience with Microsoft Access, Dropbox, CTU Converter, Nuance, Notepad++
  3. Proficient in the use of Paratext
  4. Working knowledge of OCR Software such as ABBYY Finereader
