The successful candidate will report to the Senior Communications Specialist and will be responsible for reviewing, updating, and reorganizing content on federal government websites; proofreading and copy editing technical reports, PowerPoint® presentation, proposals, and other documents; and branding and formatting technical reports, PowerPoint® presentations, proposals, and other documents. The candidate should have a high attention to detail as well as excellent reading and writing comprehension, a thorough knowledge of English grammar and spelling, the ability to meet tight deadlines, work well in a team environment, and be adaptable to change.


  • Review, reorganize, update, and rewrite website content for two federal government websites to ensure that content is consistent, in plain language, grammatically correct, non-duplicative, and fits within a content strategy.
  • Review and update technical reports and proposals. QA/QC for grammar and language, offer constructive critiques, and verify proposals meet technical requirements.
  • Validate detailed technical information and applicable acronyms.
  • Ensure accuracy in spelling, grammar, and punctuation as well as smoothly composed syntax.
  • Track changes effectively and maintain accurate versioning records.
  • Conduct a final review of documents.
  • Format reports, PowerPoint® presentations and other documents as needed ensuring that all documents meet branding requirements of various federal agencies.
  • Ensure 508 compliance of finalized documents and publications.
  • Make updates to the Cloudburst website, blog, and social media as needed and maintain internal style guide.
  • Other duties as assigned, dependent on organizational needs and employee skills.
Position Requirements
  • Ability to pass Federal Agency security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, political science, history, or a related field and 1-3 years of experience.
  • Excellent written communications and copy editing and proofreading skills with a strong command of the English Language, attention to grammar, spelling and detail.
  • Strong project, organizational, and process management skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word®, Excel®, and PowerPoint®. Familiarity with Google Docs.
  • Understanding of basic design styles and layout standards
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate status to peers and leadership.
  • Self-starter able to work in a highly collaborative team and adapt to an ever-changing environment.
  • Interpersonal skills and flexibility are essential.


  • Prior experience in government consulting or working with a federal government agency.
  • Experience working with strategic communications.
  • Proven experience in a digitally focused role, including HTML and basic principles of web design.
  • Experience working with the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of 508 compliance requirements for websites and/or publications
  • Knowledge of HTML
  • Familiar with WordPress and Drupal websites
