This is your opportunity to join the dynamic Zoo Operations team at Woodland Park Zoo. Applications are now being accepted for Warehouser in the Animal Management department. There is one full-time, temporary, non-benefited position to be filled at this time.
SUMMARY
This position performs daily operations of the warehouse at Woodland Park Zoo.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Picks up food and non-food items from vendors as needed.
- Orders items under the direction of the Commissary/Warehouse Manager.
- Cleans and organizes the warehouse.
- Communicates with appropriate staff regarding stock shortages.
- Collects invoices, credit card receipts and packing slips to document purchases; checks invoices against packing slips; and assists with inventory counts.
- Performs routine record-keeping and related clerical duties such as data entry and maintenance of files and records.
- Maintains grain and hay in accordance with USDA regulations and AZA accreditation standards.
- Fills and delivers uniform orders; maintains uniform inventory.
- Receives, stores and delivers equipment, materials and supplies for the zoo.
- Assists in training new staff or other staff in warehouser tasks, as directed.
- Safely operates a forklift.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED or equivalent required; and six months related experience and/or training in a food warehouse environment, or equivalent experience.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
- TB Test done annually.
- Valid Washington State Driver's License required.
- Washington State Fork Lift Safety Certification or ability to obtain certification.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Knowledge and experience with, or ability to learn Microsoft Office required, specifically Outlook. Experience with inventory management software desired.

The position requires an ability to walk or transit across the 92-acre facility in variable weather conditions and enter non-public behind the scenes staff areas. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds when cleaning and maintaining warehouse supplies. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and variable weather conditions. The warehouse is not heated or cooled so it can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Food is stored in a walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration; and exotic animals. The noise level in the work environment varies. Occasional loud noises from visitors, animals or equipment are experienced.
