Strategic Supply Chain Professional 

Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Optimize commodity spending and provide Year over Year (YoY) annual savings through cost reductions, cost avoidance and operational improvements. Recommend cost saving proposals through negotiations, Value Analysis, Long Term Supply Agreements, competitive knowledge, make-versus-buy analysis, resourcing/dual sourcing opportunities, last time buy and supplier Value Engineering activities
  • Understanding of price justification, negotiation methods and techniques, manufacturing processes, industry standards
  • Develops and implements complex strategies and commodity forecasts for the facility
  • Manage commercial relations with the supply base including quotation analysis, negotiations, supplier nomination, production procurement, contract development, production purchase orders and deliveries
  • Supports production operations to assure uninterrupted supply to Depot Repair and production lines
  • Arranges commercial agreements with optimal lot sizes to support business strategies
  • Ensures that all purchasing activities are executed to achieve the short and long term business strategy along with the operating and financial objectives
  • Maintains knowledge of market conditions, anticipates market changes and recommends appropriate actions
  • Identfy, assess and manage Supply Chain NPI (New Product Introduction). Drive any necessary risk buys, long lead or obsolene part procurement decisions
  • Creates value by optimizing all aspects of the supply chain
  • Select or assist in the selection of vendors who deliver the highest quality, low cost, on time service
  • Ensure Supplier documentation is received on time. This includes, but is not limited to, quality certification, First Article Inspection (FAI), Certificate of Conformance (CofC), etc.
  • Facilitate vendor quality and capability improvements
  • Expedite items as required
  • Develop and asess Inventory strategies for NPI (new product introduction)
  • Prepare and communicate formal and informal reports to all levels of the Management Team
  • Participate actively in a teamwork approach to achieving goals with particular emphasis on continuous improvement activities
  • Other activities as may be assigned by Management

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or Engineering required; plus 10 years experinece in purchasing and planning; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A MBA is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Government Contracting and FAR/DFAR/DPAS/CPSR/ITAR compliance is preferred
  • Direct experience implementing lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, Kanban, etc.) and Instrument manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
  • Green Belt or Black Belt a plus
  • Excellent Negotiation skills including experience with single sourced or obsolete material preferred
  • Experience in supporting Small Business Program requirements is desirable
  • Knowledge of typical hardware BOMs, engineering drawing interpretation, process documentation, and assembly and test processes, and direct knowledge and experience in multiple aspects of hardware and software operations
  • Experience using EPICOR or similar MRP/ERP system is required
  • Self-Motivated with strong analytical and technical skills
  • Aerospace or Electronic Component manufacturing experience desired (electronics PCBA assembly, eletronic components, box level integration and test, sheet metal & machining)
  • Working knowledge of Systems Manufacturing Operations
  • CPM, CPSM, APICS or other Purchasing certification is preferred
  • Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access) required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Domestic and international travel may be required to support business needs
  • May be required to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
