Description

Provides top level maintenance support and planning to the museum Facilities & Exhibits Operations team. Supports the Museum's mission to provide quality building, equipment and services so that our members, visitors and staff can enjoy a clean, safe, comfortable and beautiful environment during their visit.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the in-house expert for maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of museum buildings,
  • The maintenance engineer is the technical escalation point for the facilities and exhibits technicians, working with the team to determine best solution for day-to-day maintenance challenges, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Regularly works with tools on varying maintenance projects to keep museum facilities operating well and in good repair. Ensures maintenance projects and repairs are completed with a high level of quality and professionalism.
  • Supports exhibits maintenance team is resolving unique challenges with the museums indoor/outdoor exhibits.
  • Develops expertise to provide technical support for all outdoor water features in exhibits areas. Troubleshooting pumps, controls, filtrations systems, etc
  • Uses extensive troubleshooting experience to identify root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Determines when contractor support is appropriate to support maintenance needs. Control costs by minimizing use of outside contractors and maximizing the value of the contracted resources we must use. Act as technical liaison to contractors as requested.
  • Assist in directing facilities work, tasking, and projects by acting upon and or delegating repairs and maintenance of museum buildings, utilities, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Assist with the CMMS 'eWorkOrder' system, Asset Management & Histories, Preventive Maintenance, Work Order generation from Work Requests, and completed Work Order history.
  • Coordination of Security, Janitorial, Waste and Recycling, and other contracted services.
  • Manage building HVAC automation and lighting automation systems to ensure efficient operations.
  • Assist other departments with project work as requested.
  • Serve on Museum improvement committees as requested (Safety, Green, etc)
  • Manage, coordinate and or recommend the acquisition and maintenance of Museum equipment.
  • Additional duties and special projects as needed.
 
Position Requirements

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • 10+ years’ experience working in facilities maintenance with significant responsibilities OR 10+ years working in multiple trades with increasing responsibilities.
  • Strong electrical aptitude and knowledge of building systems and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated skill in trouble shooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building problems
  • Ability to work through complex issues that require working knowledge of multiple trades (Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC)
  • Experience directing substantial maintenance projects that may require use of both internal resources and contractors.
  • Ability to direct contractors on various projects including service, repairs, and new construction.
  • Ability to specify, source and procure maintenance parts, materials, and supplies.
  • Familiarity with computer operation, email, and internet browsers. Ability to learn new technologies and apps. Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Strong people and communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and walk distances up to one mile over varying terrains
  • Able to work outside in changing weather conditions
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record

Desired:

  • Associate degree or Trade school
  • Knowledge of OSHA rules
 
Shift Days  
Pay Range $20/hr
