Wyandot Behavioral Health Network (WBHN). is seeking a dedicated Therapist to join our RSI adult crisis stabilization services team! The Therapist serves as the team leader of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for serving adults in acute crisis with mental health and substance use disorders. The primary function is to provide an advanced level of mental health treatment, in both individual and group therapy, and conduct clinical assessments.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Works quickly to develop rapport and assess needs for adults in acute states of psychiatric and substance abuse crises.
  • Provides crisis interventions, assessments, and resource planning to adults in acute crisis.
  • Completes intakes for admission to Community Mental Health Center(s).
  • Completes clinical assessments to determine the necessity of higher levels of care using the Kansas screening process.
  • Facilitates admissions to higher levels of care, when deemed necessary.
  • Facilitates petitioning process and/or serves as the petitioner, when necessary, for involuntary commitments to the State Mental Health Hospital.
  • Coordinates / interacts closely with the Emergency & Stabilization Services team to assure continuity of care between RSI and Wyandot Center.
  • Serves as primary in the development of plans to prevent state hospitalizations, jail bookings.
  • Participates in the completion of discharge plans for individuals served at RSI and multidisciplinary team planning for successful transition to community based service
  • Works closely with the Bridge Case Manager and community agencies to assure appropriate services are provided to consumers and to secure needed resources such as primary health services, housing, benefits, employment support, etc.
  • Works with team members, community partners, and service organizations to closely collaborate care and other community services or resources.
  • Monitors program data and develops reports to ensure appropriate accountability.
  • Acts as a boundary spanner for RSI, mental health services, substance use services, law enforcement and other community agencies.
  • Completes timely and accurate documentation of services in the medical record.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of emerging multi-system practices.
  • Coordinates with 24/7 crisis line contractor as needed.
 
Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling other mental health related field, or be a Registered Nurse.
  • Licensed by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including both verbal and written.
  • Experience and rapport development skills with people experiencing acute crises.
  • Ability to establish effective on-going working relationships with both staff and various community agencies.
  • Ability to facilitate planning meetings with individuals from multiple systems.
  • Relevant experience in mental health emergency services.
  • Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences.
