Talent Acquisition Recruiter

The Pine Rest Talent Acquisition team is now accepting applications for the position of Recruiter, working on our main campus in Grand Rapids. The recruiter in this role develops and manages the entire recruitment process for all Pine Rest positions assigned to them. This role primarily handles Psychiatric Technician (Direct Patient Care) recruitment as well as some other exempt and non-exempt level roles. This is a high volume recruitment job and is generally responsible for hiring more than 300 people per year into the organization. This is a high visibility role within the organization and is expected to act as a SME for all things related to recruitment of entry level staff into the organization. The primary function of the Recruiter is to ensure positions are filled in a timely manner with qualified applicants and our recruiters work collaboratively with other Human Resources team members and Directors to develop and maintain consistent recruitment services and promote workforce development and retention efforts.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruits talent for Technician/Support positions which vary in complexity.
  • Ensures proactive recruitment strategies are implemented to react to employment market trends and attract qualified, desirable candidates.
  • Reviews all resumes and applications submitted through the online application portal and works to schedule and conduct face to face interviews to determine if the candidate is suitable for employment.
  • Provides hiring recommendations to the hiring Managers/Directors and schedules second round interviews with the appropriate individuals and/or shadowing opportunities for the candidates being considered.
  • Responsible for identifying and moving candidates through the talent acquisition process in a timely efficient manner.
  • Ensures all recruitment activities follow and comply with Pine Rest’s corporate policies, to include the organizations Affirmative Action plan, as well as all other federal guidelines/laws. Is responsible for ensuring compliance with EEOC and other regulatory requirements.
  • Partners with Managers and/or Directors to ensure that there is an accurate understanding of the job by reviewing the job description/documentation and verifying requirements with those involved in the hiring process.
  • Consults with the appropriate Director to anticipate, develop, and provide solutions for short and long term hiring needs and business goals which includes identifying hiring needs, recommending qualified candidates, extending job offers, arranging for relocations, assessing the success of previous hiring, and identifying recruitment trends.
  • Follows-up with management during the recruitment process to provide updates regarding the candidate pool, interviews, references, etc.
  • Assesses recruitment and sourcing success by tracking related trends, statistics, average number of vacancies, and effectively consulting with leadership.
  • Networks and develops effective working relationships with universities and technical schools, associations, and community networks.
  • Participates in, and may coordinate, special events/job fairs and other proactive recruitment activities.
  • Actively sources experienced and newly graduated prospective candidates.
  • Responsible for participating in the on boarding process for all new hires, guests, and residents to ensure that they have the appropriate paperwork and training completed prior to starting.
  • Works with Managers and Directors to maintain accurate job descriptions and prescreening questionnaires.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Position Requirements

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or organizationally related field is required. A combination of a high school diploma and many years of experience in recruitment may be considered in the absence of a completed degree.
  • Previous health care recruiting and working in a high volume recruitment role is preferred.
  • Requires at least two (2) years of experience spent in a role involving full cycle recruiting, which includes: sourcing, candidate screening, face-to-face interviewing, and assisting in the development and implementation of proactive recruiting strategies. Closely related experience may be considered as well.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse population.
  • Skills in effectively managing time and priorities.
  • Ability to return candidate phone calls, conduct interviews, or extend an offer after hours when needed.
  • Demonstrated initiative and enthusiasm for serving our applicants, managers, and caregivers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, consistently demonstrating a high degree of professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or similar products.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, team-focused environment.
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines and identify/solve problems creatively.
  • Strong knowledge of company benefits and policies.
  • Discretion with confidential information.

About the Organization Pine Rest is a nonprofit, free standing, behavioral health system founded in 1910 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This comprehensive behavioral health center, coupled with the Pine Rest network of 18 outpatient clinics and satellite offices in Michigan and Iowa, provide individualized and group therapy for people of all ages and all levels of need. Pine Rest clinicians offer therapeutic services in behavioral health for people of all ages and all levels of need across the continuum of care within a Christian framework.

Pine Rest has a 198-bed inpatient hospital program with a 36-bed child and adolescent inpatient and a large partial hospital program for adolescents. Additionally, Pine Rest has many inpatient services for adults, including: four 22-bed adult inpatient units each designed for a different level of acuity, a 22-bed co-occurring substance use disorder adult inpatient unit, a large adult partial hospital program, and a 26-bed older adult inpatient unit.

The Pine Rest Community and Residential Services Division also provides a wide array of services. With over 220 residential beds across a variety of programs, including treatment for substance use disorders, homes for adults with intellectual and developmental disorders, adults with mental illness, and a program for youth aged 11-18 with extensive trauma histories focusing on trauma treatment and life skills programming.

The Pine Rest Behavioral Health Solutions Division partners with behavioral health and medical organizations to increase access to psychiatry services and to provide a continuum of behavioral health and telepsychiatry services throughout many communities across the State of Michigan.
