JOB SUMMARY

The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for site Environmental, Health and Safety programs and ensuring compliance with all applicable government laws and regulations. Program areas of responsibility include but are not limited to: hazardous materials management, hazardous waste management, environmental inspections, liaison with governmental agencies, disaster preparedness, fire protection, safety training and employee incident report follow-ups.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • POLICIES/PROCEDURES: Oversee the development, planning, implementation and administration of environmental, health and safety policies; develop procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness and injury prevention, and building safety) used across the site.

  • COMPLIANCE: Manage the environmental, industrial, health and safety regulation compliance, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental safety and handles all contact with appropriate agencies, including recordkeeping, data analysis and reporting. Ensure appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist.

  • ADVISOR: Evaluate work processes for safe and ergonomic operation. Recommend/implement PPE, ergonomic and/or other modifications as appropriate to mitigate risk. Be the point of contact for emergency personnel and manage workers compensation program administration.

  • TRAINING: Develop and oversee training programs for employees in areas such as compliance training, lab/plant inspection, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety.

  • LEAD: Manage the emergency response team, safety audits, safety committee meetings, accident investigations, hazard and ergonomic assessments, and work site evaluations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree required. Certifications with industry-related agencies/organizations such as FAA, OSHA, EPA, DOE, NCCCO, NFPA and 12+ years of direct work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Public Safety and Security — Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

  • Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Speaking — Talking to others to convey information effectively.

  • Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

  • Problem Sensitivity — The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

  • Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible.
