POSITION SUMMARY: For Fall 2019, we are hiring an adjunct instructor to teach an introductory course on American government.

Course catalog description: The American Political System. Operation of American political processes and governmental institutions. Political culture of American democracy, political philosophy of the Constitution, relationship between organization of the economy and political power, linkages between mass public and governing elites, and operation of institutions of national government.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a liberal arts course and requires appropriate reading and writing assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS: ABD or PhD in Political Science, specialization in American Government and Politics, with undergraduate teaching experience in introductory American government courses.

  • Occasionally required to push and/or pull up to 25 pounds a distance of 10 feet

  • Routinely required to stand for long periods of time

  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)

  • Depth perception and the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships

  • Adjustable focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. The individual is routinely exposed to indoor conditions, minimum outdoor weather and temperature extremes, and moderate noise level.
