Energy Efficiency Project Manager (Chicago)

Position summary

Slipstream is seeking a project manager with strong communication and organizational skills. This position will support administrative functions for a utility-funded commercial new construction program in Illinois. Familiarity with commercial building design concepts is a plus. This position will be in our Chicago which is located “in-the-loop” near public transit.


  • Support the implementation of a program that offers technical assistance and financial incentives to promote the design and construction of high performance commercial buildings.
  • Lead data tracking and reporting for the program.
  • Generate program financial and energy savings forecasts.
  • Manage program evaluation data submissions.
  • Monitor progress of work against project schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Schedule and coordinate site verifications with customers.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, customers and internal staff.
  • Manage subcontracts; review and approve invoices.
  • Train staff and subcontractors on program processes.
  • Additional responsibilities and customer requests as needed.
Position Requirements


  • A BA or BS degree.
  • At least five years relevant professional experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Top-notch project management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to analyze, manipulate, and present data effectively in reports and presentations.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated connection and commitment to Slipstream’s mission

Mental and Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
