POSITION SUMMARY

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the grounds operations on assigned shift, ensure that all equipment is operating effectively, and assist the department manager with personnel issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Has the ability to perform all functions of supervised positions.
  2. Oversees ground staff to ensure work assignments are being carried out.
  3. Maintains landscape of the grounds surrounding the entire casino hotel and event center.
  4. With the Grounds Manager, determines the staffing requirements, schedules, work assignments and staff training needs
  5. Maintains cleanliness of all work areas and storage through delegation of duties.
  6. Ensures all equipment is in good working condition.
  7. Responsible for general maintenance and repairs of equipment
  8. Responsible for documenting employee work performance.
  9. Responsible for the correct application of all Human Resource policies and required to act in professional manner, encouraging other employees to do likewise.
  10. Provides proper safety training of company assets including personnel.
  11. Keeps personnel informed of Marketing promotions and events, changes to policies and procedures
  12. Assists Grounds Manager maintaining weekly timekeeping records to submit to payroll, employment activity records and other departmental reports.
  13. Responds to and handles guest requests and concerns in a timely, professional manner.
  14. Contributes to the general management of the company by attending scheduled meetings
  15. Keeps Grounds Manager promptly and fully informed of all situations and problems or matters of significance so timely, corrective action can be taken.
  16. Maintains knowledge of all events in the property as a whole.
  17. Attends and/or facilitates all mandatory meetings and training.
  18. Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  19. Is sensitive to Native American Culture.
  20. Operates within the parameters of the Leech Lake Gaming Human Resource Policy, Departmental Policy Manual and all Tribal Internal Controls (TICs), and all other applicable regulations.
  21. Secures the assets of Leech Lake Gaming and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.
  22. Performs other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Supervisory experience
  2. Valid Minnesota driver’s license and be insurable
  3. Heavy equipment operator license beneficial
  4. Knowledge of operating equipment and the maintenance and upkeep of all equipment
  5. Knowledge of hazardous chemicals and how to properly handle and mix them.
  6. Knowledge of sweeper, sprinkler system watering, pruning and trimming, mowing, weed eradication and prevention, care of flowering plants, trees, baler and recycling
  7. Ability to operate lawn machinery and small hand tools.
  8. Landscaping experience
  9. Knowledge of riding lawn mower and snow plows
  10. Knowledge of how to change the oil in snowplows, riding lawn mowers, weed trimmers and edger
  11. Ability to resolve conflicts efficiently and professionally
  12. Must be flexible in working various hours, shifts, weekends and holidays

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Prolonged standing and walking is required.
  2. Must be able to life and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
  3. Subject to internal working conditions, including a smoking environment.
  4. Subject to external working conditions including extreme weather conditions.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS

Education Required: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience: One or more years related experience

Computer Skills:

Certificates & Licenses: Must meet Tribal/State compact licensing requirements, pass criminal background check and submit to drug testing.
