About the Organization For over 70 years, The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region has helped people with intellectual and developmental disabilities build better lives one person at a time. We provide support services and advocacy to 400 adults and children and their families in Harford and Cecil Counties. The Arc supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to create lives that mirror yours and mine: students attending neighborhood schools, adults going to work and living in their own homes, and individuals enjoying the social and recreational opportunities in their communities. We are a private, non-profit local chapter of The Arc of Maryland and The Arc of The United States, the largest volunteer organization in the world devoted exclusively to improving the quality of life for all adults and children with developmental disabilities.

Description

Position Summary:

The Director of Community & Family Supports is responsible for supporting families and individuals with disabilities living with family or in independent living arrangements. This will include oversight of the Personal Supports, Respite, Camp, and Family Support programs. They will also be responsible for the development and implementation of community education and outreach to better support families. The Director of Community & Family Supports is responsible for the oversight of the day to day functioning of Family & Personal Supports.

Position Duties & Responsibilities:

In a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR Mission Statement the Director of Community & Family Supports, shall do the following:

Quality Support

  • Ensure individuals receiving supports are making progress towards identified goals.
  • Advocate and plan for people with disabilities to live as independently as possible.
  • Ensure individuals and families receive the supports that are customized to their needs.
  • Provide respite, financial assistance, and or camp to allow families to maintain independence.
  • Offer Education & training to families to better equip them to support their loved ones with a disability.
  • Partner and connect with other community organizations that support families so that each entity brings their experience as a subject matter expert and pool limited resources.

Quality Team Members

  • Provides regular supervision and annual evaluation for assigned staff.
  • Develops department structures and procedures in accordance with agency objectives and all applicable standards and regulations.
  • Assures staff members are meeting agency, state and federal regulations for required in-service training and certifications.

Financial Excellence

  • Establishes and maintains positive collaborative relationships with relevant community agencies; represents the agency at community meetings/groups.
  • Collect and analyze data related to admissions and discharges to identify trends of unmet needs in the community and make recommendations for program changes or develop of new services.
  • Continual monitor funded services and assist departments in ensuring that necessary services continue to be funded
  • Assists in the development of program budget; regularly monitors annual program budget to ensure program costs do not exceed budgetary constraints.
  • Completes, maintains and submits required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
