GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Director of Supported Living, the Assistant Director of CSLA/ISS is responsible for ensuring that all individuals served with less than 24/7 supports are in integrated, dignified and respectful environments and receive necessary supports in order to be active in their chosen communities. These supports to the individuals will be provided according to their personal preferences and in accordance with The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region, Inc.'s policies, procedures, mission and philosophy as well as those of the State of Maryland/Federal mandated laws, policies and regulations.
The CSLA/ISS Assistant Director is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the CSLA/ISS supports within Harford and Cecil counties. This includes supervision of the staff providing direct supports to CSLA/ISS funded individuals; and acting as a liaison with other program and supporting departments representing the clients and staff under their supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree in related field and two years experience in residential setting strongly preferred
- Strong supervision skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Computer literate
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle stressful situations without loss of efficiency and composure.
- Ability to analyze situations, develop creative solutions and act quickly and calmly in a crisis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Access to reliable transportation
- Valid Driver's license with no more than two points.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty pounds.
- May be required to participate in repetitive lifts and transfers
- Some sitting with frequent walking, standing, pushing, pulling, bending and driving.
- Maintenance of current and valid CPR/First Aid certifications.
- Maintenance of current and valid CMT certification.
- Maintenance of all required training requirements under DDA guidelines and The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region, Inc. policies.
- Flexibility of scheduling to meet agency and program needs.
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

8. Create and maintain a system for ensuring that employee resources are efficiently and effectively used when scheduling supports.
9. Provides supervision and mentoring for staff in all areas of service delivery, including but not limited to, communication, documentation, networking and supports.
10. Interviews and provides recommendations for the hiring of new direct support staff.
11. Participates in the planning meeting, responsible for writing and submitting Individual Plans for individuals served and implements the Arc's responsibility for the individual plan for ISS/CSLA supports.
12. Develops an active Circle of Support around the individual and maintains communication and positive working relationships with the people who are involved in the lives of people supported, including people associated and not associated with the agency, professionals, friends and family members
13. Keeps current and accurate individual records, case files, record notes and medical records.
14. Advocates and provides options for supports and services as needed and seeks out and develops community resources to meet the needs of assigned clients for activities and support services.
15. Facilitates team meetings and family conferences to problem solve and develop plans of action as needed.
16. Schedules direct support staff to ensure adequate supports are maintained and tracks individual support hours so all individuals are receiving their funded supports.
17. Shares on-call responsibility on a rotating basis with team members.
18. Provides flexibility when needed to transfer to another program/residence or in providing direct support to individuals as necessary.
19. Completes, maintains and submits required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
20. Develops a relationship with the individuals served that is respectful, based on mutual trust and that maintains professional boundaries.
21. Takes responsibility for any issues noted and demonstrates the ability to actively problem solve by seeking, developing and implementing viable solutions using appropriate internal and external agency resources.
22. Takes responsibility for safety hazards in all areas including but is not limited to programs, residences and vehicles.
23. Other duties as assigned.
