Slipstream’s Chicago office is located “in-the-loop” near public transit.

About the role:

  • Work with clients to envision more energy efficient buildings and systems.
  • Evaluate comfort and quality impacts of design options.
  • Use energy modeling software to inform design decisions.
  • Clearly communicate results in written, graphical, and presentation formats.
  • Manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Drive innovation in internal tools, process and practice.
  • Work with a great team

Desired experience:

  • Knowledge of relevant building energy codes and ASHRAE standards.
  • Experience with energy and/or load analysis, including software such as Trane TRACE, eQUEST, IESVE, EnergyPlus or similar.
  • Knowledge in advanced energy management systems such as fault detection.
  • Building design experience.
  • Sales engineering or client management.
  • Cost estimation
  • Programming/scripting languages such as VBA or Python.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Fundamental knowledge of energy systems
  • Approach to work that is positive, solution-oriented, optimistic, and enthusiastic
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with computer software and data analysis including but not limited to programming languages, statistical software, engineering software, energy modeling software and other related software
  • Proficiency in MS software, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Position Requirements

Required qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or related sustainability field.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with building design and construction processes.
  • Proficient in basic computer software such as MS Excel and Autodesk.
    Work well within a team environment.
  • Willingness to travel locally and occasionally out-of-state.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Effort:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
