Digital Media Manager, Academy Museum  

Description

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is looking for a talented and entrepreneurial digital media manager to create and maintain a strong online presence for our Museum. The role is to implement digital marketing strategies through web, social and email. The Manager, Digital Media will develop original content and suggest creative ways to attract visitors and promote the Museum. Goals will be to increase web traffic, social media growth, app usage, and customer engagement metrics aligned with broader marketing strategies.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Research audience preferences and discover current trends
  • Develop digital communications calendar
  • Create engaging text, image and video content that is distributed through social media, web, and email
  • Develop and communicate a comprehensive digital media strategy for the Museum
  • Oversee the production and editing of video content for social media and web
  • Work with cross-departmental teams to advise on social media partnerships and promotions
  • Create multi-channel campaigns for specific events, programs and promotions in partnership with various Museum departments
  • Design posts/emails to sustain readers’ curiosity and create buzz around new events/exhibits
  • Measure web traffic and monitor SEO
  • Work with outside media agencies to advise on paid social content, keywords, and digital ad placements
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms and digital marketing trends ensuring maximum effectiveness
  • Train co-workers to use social media in a cohesive and beneficial way
  • Facilitate online conversations with customers, source and acquire permission to re-share user-generated content, and respond to queries
  • Report on online reviews and feedback from customers and fans
  • Develop an optimal posting and email schedule, considering web traffic and customer engagement metrics
  • Oversee social media accounts’ layout
  • Suggest new ways to attract prospective customers, like promotions and competitions
  • Develop and maintain distinct tone and voice for all channels of digital communication including social media, email, and web
  • Work with all departments to facilitate generation of content for the website and social media, and review all content to ensure consistency of digital tone/voice
  • Report on social media growth, web traffic, and email marketing results
  • Assist to develop and enforce a Museum-wide social media policy for staff, as well as codes of conduct for public users of all Academy Museum online communications channels
 
Position Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in social media, marketing, web and digital, or related fields
  • The ability to work variable hours based on the Museum’s schedule of events and activities outside standard business hours is required
  • Demonstrated understanding of marketing strategies and developing guidelines
  • Experience writing promotional, programing and ad copy
  • Deep understanding of the entire digital presence via Google Analytics, Facebook analytics, Marketing Cloud and other platforms
  • Familiarity with web design and CMS

  • Ability to thrive in a non-linear and fast paced environment as policies and procedures are developed
  • Sense of humor
  • Understanding of the arts in general and the Los Angeles arts community in particular
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred
