Primary Objective of Position: The Senior Procurement/Sourcing Specialist obtains goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and office/lab/manufacturing related support activities, for the organization at the lowest total cost with a focus on total value. He/she will support other departments in supplier selection, defining product specifications and ordering practices that reflect the best interests of the company. He/she will lead projects that deliver value through cost savings, process improvement, supplier innovation, supplier management, negotiating pricing and contractual terms to help gain competitive advantage. He/she will propose and develop metrics and reporting functions to advance the procurement function at Recro. He/she will assist in setting the strategy and goals for the Procurement function.

Major Duties/Responsibilities

  • Purchases goods and services from approved and qualified suppliers in sufficient lead time to prevent materials shortages and recommend cost savings when possible.
  • Ensures that all activities are in compliance with company policies/practices and regulatory requirements (SOX).
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Negotiates prices and follows competitive bidding procedures when necessary to ensure lowest total cost for specific materials, interacting with other departments as necessary.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with suppliers to understand their capabilities/processes, and to resolve issues.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement and business needs.
  • Resolve inquiries and professionally escalate concerns as needed.
  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with internal customers and vendors, to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Resolves problems that arise in relation to delivery dates, quality, specifications, quantity or cost of purchased goods or services. Expedites delivery of goods when required.
  • Reviews purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy Confers with internal customers regarding requirements, specifications, quantity, quality and delivery requirements. Recommends alternate suppliers where a savings in cost or improved delivery will result.
  • Process purchase orders based on SAP MRP reports for raw materials, or purchase requisitions for MRO items and CAF's and send to the supplier in a timely manner. Follow up on orders to ensure on-time delivery and expected quality.
  • Continually evaluate services offered by existing and prospective suppliers. Facilitates the competitive bidding process when required. Prepares bid requests based on identified requirements, submits to identified suppliers, reviews completed/submitted bid packages, and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. Prepare required reports on a regular basis to track and monitor various areas of performance (cost savings, compliance to contract spend.
  • Approves service invoices for payment.
  • Provide SAP training for creating/changing/displaying requisitions.
  • Review and analyze SAP Spend Queries
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve operational efficiency, add value and work toward continuous improvement. May lead project initiatives.
  • Provide other support to the Procurement function as directed.

Lead or Supervisory Responsibilities: Not responsible for leading or supervising others

 
Position Requirements

Minimum Job Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or a related field is required. .

Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years’ of direct work experience in sourcing, procurement and/or negotiating contracts is required. Procurement experience within the pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred. Previous work experience with SAP is highly preferred (similar ERP experience will be considered).

Licenses, Certificates, Registrations: APICS CSCP certification is highly preferred

The employee is regularly required to apply computer skills covering word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software. The employee is regularly required to apply mathematical formulae and engineering rules of thumb to tasks and execute technical and engineering calculations.

Work Environment - The employee works under typical office conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
