Benefits Analyst 

Description

Broker Consulting Services, a division of Wakely Consulting Group, is looking for a Benefits Analyst preferably with prior healthcare experience. The ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge reviewing and analyzing healthcare data for small to mid-size employer groups, or have exceptional data analysis skills. We are looking for candidates that work well in an open team environment and are passionate about the healthcare landscape.

What you will do:

  1. Prepare rate projections, quarterly reserves, benefit change and migration modeling, contribution modeling, and merger/acquisition estimates;
  2. Communicate with agency contacts to assist with rating & administrative impact of benefit and plan changes;
  3. Prepare and present reports summarizing results, describing analyses, while documenting methodologies and limitations;
  4. Communicate and build relationships by proactively understanding and addressing client issues;
  5. Provide support to Consultants by completing projects within stated deadlines and assist with ad hoc analyses.

Additional responsibilities may include reporting, strategy support, financial data remodeling, and other ad hoc projects.

 
Position Requirements

What you will need:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree with a quantitative or analytical emphasis;
  2. 1-4 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in the healthcare industry;
  3. Demonstrated verbal and communication skills including group presentation ability;
  4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products with strong proficiency in Excel and Word;
  5. Ability to take direction and work independently, leveraging team resources and seeking help when necessary;
  6. Team oriented mentality, willingness to tackle ad hoc projects, collaborative and show initiative.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  1. Experience leading others to achieve desired results in completion of assigned projects through successful project management;
  2. Experience with healthcare funding mechanisms, pricing of self-insured plans, benefit plan design development/strategies, health insurance products and health care reform;
  3. Proficiency in database/statistical analysis language (SQL/SAS).
