Required Education and Experience: High school diploma. One year experience in an early childhood education setting. NYS certification as a Teaching Assistant. Knowledge of classroom management preferred. Must have demonstrated commitment to performing job duties and tasks at a high level of performance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1. Promotes the Golisano Autism Center's Vision, Mission and Philosophy. 2. Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy. 3. Functions as the primary assistant to the classroom teacher, ensuring a meaningful educational experience. 4. Functions in the leadership role in the classroom during the teacher's absence. 5. Implements each child's educational, therapeutic, and behavioral plans under the supervision of the teacher and team. 6. Supervises children and ensures safety. 7. Works with individual students or groups of students on instructional projects to achieve individualized goals for each child. 8. Provides the teacher and team with information about students, which will assist in the development of appropriate learning experiences for students. 9. Assists in the development of instructional/classroom materials. 10. Assists the classroom teacher in related instructional work as required. 11. Maintains classroom cleanliness and the orderly appearance of classroom equipment, supplies and displays of children's work. 12. Attends all meetings as required and appropriate, as determined by the classroom teacher and Program Director. 13. Assists children with behavioral/management needs. 14. Participates in conferences, workshops. Department meetings and in-service training as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development. 15.
