About the Organization CP Rochester and Happiness House are private nonprofit health, educational, residential and human service organizations that have been serving communities in the Finger Lakes Region since 1969 and the Greater Rochester Area since 1946. Today with sites in Rochester, Canandaigua, Geneva, Gorham, Midlakes and Waterloo, our agencies offer an array of educational, therapeutic, recreational, residential and family support programs and services for children and adults with and without disabilities. On average, our agencies serve 3,650 families each year and employ approximately 600 people.


Our staff consists of dedicated and knowledgeable professionals and clinicians with expertise in the areas of Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Physical, Occupational, Speech and Music Therapies, Psychology, Service Coordination, Nursing, Dental Services, and Developmental Disabilities.

Description

The Director of the Golisano Autism Center is responsible for providing effective leadership, oversight and collaboration with all tenants to ensure the smooth flow of services for individuals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Promotes the Golisano Autism Center's Vision, Mission and Philosophy.
  • Promotes access to services for individuals of any age with an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis and their families/natural supports.
  • Promotes the role of the Golisano Autism Center (GAC) as a vital partner in the Greater Rochester and Finger Lakes Regions.
  • Works collaboratively with Family Navigators, individuals with a diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families to identify services/supports that meet their specific needs and to make warm referrals both internally and within the community.
  • Acts as a resource to tenants and participants regarding Autism Spectrum Disorders, including but not limited to research, resources and evidence-based practices.
  • Pursues and implements grants that further the vision and mission of the GAC.
  • Promotes the Golisano Autism Center as a preferred educational, recreational and clinical site for professionals seeking experience in working with individuals with a diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum.
  • Ensures the smooth day to day operations of the Golisano Autism Center by working collaboratively with tenants to:
    • provide train the trainer session regarding:
    • the collaborative model of services
    • roles of Director, Receptionist, Family Navigator.
    • health and safety (emergency drills, security systems, reporting physical plant issues, etc.)
    • other trainings as appropriate
    • scheduling shared space times to promote success for all participants and tenants.
    • ensure access to required systems: phones, internet, copies, etc

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Employment: Part Time/12 Month - Monday through Friday (evening/weekend work may be required)

Location: Golisano Autism Center, Rochester, NY

 
Position Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Education or Clinical Profession.
  • Certified Autism Specialist, Applied Behavioral Analysis Certification, Licensed Behavior Analyst or similar certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working with individuals with autism.
  • Extensive knowledge in the field of autism and the skill to share that knowledge with a diverse audience including individuals on the Autism Spectrum, their family members and advocates, educational, recreational, health care and support services providers as well as the community at large.
  • Experience and comfort with presenting to groups and the media.
  • Experience with supervision of professional staff seeking certification as ABA or Autism Specialist.
