Description

Paychex of New York, LLC seeks a full time Developer IV (Java/J2EE/HTML5) at our offices located at 1028 Ridge Road, Webster, NY 14580.

Job Description:

Developer IV (Java/J2EE/HTML5) to work on application development projects using Agile methodology, performing requirements analysis and providing input to requirement documents as well as designing, developing and implementing web and service-based applications using Java/J2EE/HTML5. Duties include:

  • Code middle tier changes using Java, Web Services, Spring and Hibernate.
  • Enhance user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript Libraries, including Jquery and AngularJS.
  • Perform basic analysis based on business requirements to gain an understanding of required application changes.
  • Integrate development code with enterprise service code, including advanced security.
  • Write design and technical documents.
  • Complete complex program changes to translate specifications/requirements into code.
  • Define development tasks and provide time estimates to aid in scheduling and monitor progress against task estimates.
  • Develop and publish Web services using SOAP, WSDL, XSD and XML.
  • Works with Architect to define the software architectural approach and high-level design for the project while working to ensure assigned project goals are met within expected timelines and following organization standards.
  • Develop SQL queries and PL/SQL database programs using Toad.
  • Review and discuss project development and strategies with product owner and scrum master by using burn up and burn down charts.
  • Discuss strategies with upper level management to improve overall product quality and enhance cost revenue of the organization.
  • Resolve complex production issues involving live production clients by trouble shooting various components of the application.
  • Mentor and coach new team members.
  • Plan, create, document and execute automated unit test plans and test cases using jUnit, ensuring all code changes meet corporate standards and requirements, as well as project specifications.
  • Perform peer source code reviews using Code Collaborator.
  • Implement best practices for performance tuning and optimization of application code.
  • Perform defect analysis and resolution in development, test and performance assessment environments.
  • Provide the technical support for applications developed using Java/J2EE/HTML5 in Windows/UNIX/LINUX environments.
 
Position Requirements
  • Minimum Requirements: BS in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or foreign equiv. degree) or related field and 5 years of experience in software development. Experience must include:

  • 5 years of Java programming/J2EE experience;
  • Java certification OR brain-bench type testing is required;
  • 5 years of experience in designing, developing applications and enterprise level Web services using SOAP, WSDL, XML, and XSLT;
  • 2 years of HTML programming experience;
  • 2 years of experience with Spring and Hibernate J2EE development frameworks;
  • 5 years with Agile programming and Service Oriented Architecture;
  • 5 years working with databases and SQL providing skills sufficient to work with complex databases and Oracle stored procedures;
  • 5 years troubleshooting software issues using ANT;
  • 5 years conducting source code reviews;
  • 5 years with Jboss, Weblogic or similar application server platform (e.g. Websphere), and UNIX;
  • 2 years with Jenkins or similar Build Automation Tool (e.g. Build Forge).
  • Position requires participation in occasional on-call rotation coverage.
