Description

The Machinist is responsible for the programming, set-up and operation of all CNC machines utilized within the company to produce precision parts.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Promote and adhere to the Core Values and Behavior Code.
  • Demonstrate exceptional ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications and apply to machining process.
  • Exhibit proven knowledge to set-up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts including part holding and fixturing.
  • Select tools and materials for the job; plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations.
  • Determine beginning speed and feed for each work piece and job. Make adjustments as required to achieve dimensions and finish as specified.
  • Possess an excellent knowledge of quality and inspection requirements, manufacturing processes and measurement techniques.
  • Assist with the resolution of production issues involving machining which affect the overall production operation as needed.
  • Responsible for performing routine operational checks of mechanical equipment and machinery.
  • Access needs and make recommendations to management, for machining related equipment, tooling and fixturing. Maintain tool inventory and Complete PGR with necessary information to complete purchases.
  • Follow proper material control procedures and record keeping.
  • Measure and document dimensions during machining process and after completion.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment including overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Responsible for achieving good speed of execution while maintaining quality workmanship in a wide range of machining activities.
  • Maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Demonstrate and promote teamwork and cooperation with team members at all levels in the organization on time saving initiatives and lean processes.
  • Required to wear appropriate PPE as required by job duties.
  • Promote company goals with a focus on Safety, Quality, and Production.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, technical training or apprentice certification desired.
  • Minimum 3-5 years related manufacturing machining experience.
  • Familiar with 5 Axis Horizontal Boring Mills with Fanul Controls.
  • Familiar with HAAS Vertical Center, HAAS Lathe and HAAS Controls.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with electrical and manual tools.
  • Basic mathematical skills, ability to work in absolute and incremental values
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work at a consistent and quick pace.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow through on verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of safety standards.
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to shift priorities based on the organizations’ needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Dependability, integrity and professionalism are essential.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

This full-time position operates in a production environment. Physical effort consists of frequent handling of light to average weight tools or materials, some handling of heavy weights, some pulling, pushing. The employee must be able to lift and move items up to 50 pounds. Work performed requires constant alertness and activity, good eye/hand coordination and concentrated mental and visual attention.
