Dallas Institute of Funeral Service is located in Dallas, Texas. Dallas Institute is a non-profit corporation offering post-secondary education to men and women interested in funeral service as a career. Currently, we are seeking candidates for the position of Distance Learning Coordinator (DLC) to serve its mission of providing an exceptional educational experience for its students and work experience for its employees across all platforms. The DLC is responsible for providing the support and operations of the distance learning programs offered at the College. This includes leading the educational online technology and programs, distance learning efforts, leading online professional development efforts related to distance learning and special projects.

Position Overview:

The Distance Learning Coordinator (DLC) will oversee the entire scope of the distance learning programs that are offered. The DLC is responsible for the academic quality, operational effectiveness, student success, and growth of distance learning. This will include the training of new or returning faculty to the online format used. This person must have the ability to work across multiple platforms. The DLC will be responsible for ensuring that the distance learning programs meet all accreditation standards, state and federal regulations and Pierce Mortuary Colleges policies. The DLC will report directly to the president of the College.

Job Description

  • Responsible for the supervision of the distance learning instructors and student learning within the online programs
  • Develops and conducts professional development initiatives, faculty orientation, faculty meetings, leads the online student orientation each quarter, and supports strategic business goals. This position will provide direction and support to train staff, instructors, and students on the use of online resources, LMS, course development, course requirements, delivery methods for engagement/activity, virtually and face to face.
  • Build and develop a virtual career center and create and implement ongoing and regular online career development events, workshops, virtual events, and online communities
  • Establishes conditions providing proper learning opportunities for students, good working conditions for faculty, and excellent communication process both inside and outside of the institution
  • Assist the college in meeting accreditation and approvals with national and state agencies.
  • Mapping ABFSE content to course standards and outcomes.
  • Ensure instructor and student compliance with all policies and procedures of the institution
  • Manages course resources (i.e., textbooks, supplement materials, learning objectives, syllabi, course-specific resources, course development plan, faculty and student support resources, etc.)
  • Helps with DL Manual improvements and additions
  • Ability to work in multiple platforms (LMS, SIS, E-book platforms, and exam proctoring)
  • Enrolling students into the above-listed platforms
  • Ensuring that attendance of all students has been properly, accurately, and by deadlines by each instructor. Responsible for tracking on a weekly basis. Review and comparison of activity report and engagement is the responsibility of this position.
  • Integrating educational technology into courses and ensuring instructors are utilizing required technology engagement tools and methods on a weekly basis.
  • Instructor oversight regarding timely input of grades, attendance, and weekly progress reports.
  • Driving course improvement based on course evaluation data
  • Monitor and assist instructors with technical and administrative support
  • Analyzing and driving quality improvement from course quality data, such as student satisfaction, assessments, grade distribution, and learning outcomes.
  • Conducting course data review sessions with faculty and faculty lead/president (Check-In Report Required) Conducting curriculum review and driving curriculum improvements by advising faculty. Analyzing curricular improvement from program effectiveness data
  • Monitor student engagement, activity, and progress of each online course
  • Tracks key metrics to determine the overall effectiveness of programs
  • Research and compile industry standards on online/distance education.
  • Works with Corporate Director of College Programs and meets with peer college DLCs.
  • In addition to administrative duties, will also be a member of the teaching faculty
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications

  • Possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Possess knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines concerning a not-for-profit, non-public post-secondary educational institution
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects, multiple students, and multiple staff/instructors
  • 2+ years of experience in distance learning management
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and students
  • Learning Management System experience required
  • Student Information System experience preferred
