About the Organization Hill Country Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Centers is a unit of local government and a not-for-profit, 501C provider of Mental Health and Intellectual Developmental Disabilities, Substance Abuse, and Veteran Peer Services throughout the greater Texas Hill Country Region. Hill Country MHDD Centers is designated to be the Mental Health Authority by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority by the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) for a 19 County Service Area including: Bandera, Blanco, Comal, Edwards, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Llano, Mason, Medina, Menard, Real, Schleicher, Sutton, Uvalde and Val Verde Counties. Job Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse

Division/Department: Mental Health Services

Hill Country Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Centers strongly believes that every individual deserves the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential. At the present time, we are looking for a qualified candidate to fill the role of Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).

Under the general direction of the Clinic Director and the clinical supervision of an RN, the right candidate will be responsible for providing compassionate care and performing technical nursing functions within the scope of their license.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Medication administration
  • Transcription
  • Assisting the RN with assessment of patient status and care needs
  • Observation and reporting of patient physical and mental status documentation of patient care services
  • Maintains inventory of the medications, medical supplies, and medication room.
  • Provides medication education/training and support to patients and families as assigned.
  • Ensures infection control and safety measures are followed.
  • Responsible for providing at least 70 direct service hours per month, client no-show rates of less than 25% and staff-kept appointment rates of at least 90%
  • Provides timely and accurate documentation collaboratively 95% of the time, which supports diagnosis and outcome-based services
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Licensing Requirements: Certificates/Licenses

  • Licensed to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas
  • Computer proficient with excellent Data Entry skills
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Current Automobile Insurance

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Some experience in the medical field utilizing LVN knowledge and skills. Prefer work experience providing services to people with Mental Health issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with consumers and Supervisor
  • Well organized with excellent time management skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
  • Able to push, pull, lift and / or carry over 20 pounds
  • Able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
  • Ability to provide CPR after obtaining Certification
  • Ability to demonstrate PMAB skills after successful completion of agency training curriculum
