Description

Valley Community Services Board is seeking candidates for the position of Computer Support Specialist. The Computer Support position is responsible for overall technical support of computer hardware, software, and select office equipment. The Computer Support Specialist procures, installs, upgrades, troubleshoots and repairs computer hardware, software, and peripherals and provides orientation, training and direct support to end-users.

Major duties include: provide direct technical support to end-users, relating to all aspects of the desktop computing environment, and resulting in the timely resolution of users’ problems and requests, procure hardware, software, peripherals, and supplies in accordance with policies and procedures, configure, install, and update computer hardware, software, and peripherals, troubleshoot and repair/replace, or coordinate vendor repair/replacement of computer hardware, software, and peripherals, provide support and assistance with fax machines and copiers, provide individualized and group computer orientation and training to meet demand and comply with regulations, may be responsible for the development and/or acquisition of training content and materials, assist with routine Systems Administration duties, such as network account maintenance and backup rotation, assist with the development and maintenance of Internet and Intranet content, cross train with other Information Systems staff and cover their critical duties during absences, perform other duties as assigned by the Information Systems Director, which are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position and within agency policies and procedures.

 
Position Requirements

Relevant certification and Information Systems degree or trade school diploma is required. A+ certification or equivalent is strongly preferred. Two years of comprehensive experience in a demanding computer support capacity, preferably in a human services or social services agency supporting 100 or more users. An equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered in lieu of certification or degree.

The incumbent must consistently provide a superior level of service to the end-user, and maintain a high level of quality and attention to detail. Support requests should receive rapid attention, and problems should be resolved as quickly as is technically possible. Project deadlines must be met.

Standard office environment with normal lighting levels, temperature ranges, air quality, ventilation, and noise levels. Occasional exposure to confined or dusty spaces such as wiring closets, attics, and basements. Must be able to bend and squat for extended periods. Must be able lift and carry 40 pounds.
