The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) is a not-for-profit, independent certification organization whose primary purposes are to establish and monitor a national certification system, and to identify those counselors who have voluntarily sought and obtained board certification. The organizational mission is to advance counseling as the premier certification body of the profession with a vision of enhancing society worldwide through quality counseling. NBCC and Affiliates is comprised of three organizational affiliates: the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE) and the NBCC Foundation (NBCC-F).

NBCC and Affiliates has operations and partnerships in 40 countries providing certification, training programs and public mental health services through institutes and residencies. Over 66,000 Board Certified Counselors serve the public and advance mental health efforts across the globe. With a portfolio of nine credentials related to professional counseling, mental health, addictions, human services and career development, NBCC and Affiliates seeks to expand the professional capacity of counselors and human service professionals. NBCC is focused specifically on credentialing, certification and quality assurance, while CCE focuses on providing education and training opportunities and leveraging credentials to best serve communities. Additionally, CCE provides organizational management services for associations, boards and other management clients. The NBCC Foundation engages in capacity building, seeking to expand access to mental health services in underserved and never-served communities and increase the accessibility of high quality professional development resources for counselors.

CCE, BUSINESS SERVICES AND PARTNERSHIPS DIVISION

The CCE, Business Services and Partnerships Division is responsible for the oversight of business partnerships to leverage training programs, curriculum, assessment programs and organizational services. This Division is focused on business development and entrepreneurial efforts in both domestic and international contexts. Most critically, the CCE, Business Services and Partnerships division develops, provides and evaluates all services targeted for state regulatory boards for professional counseling. The Division provides critical services to stakeholders including: services necessary to support the regulatory arm of the counseling profession, professional training to counselors and other behavioral health professions and contracted management services to related professional organizations.

The Division is comprised of five departments: State Agency Services, Business Development, Contracted Management Services, Government and Legislative Affairs and International Business Development. This Division is critical for advancing the legislative efforts of the Affiliate group through the efforts of the Government and Legislative Affairs Department.

Responsibilities of the Vice President position include:

  • Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and collaborate effectively with other Vice Presidents, the CEO, COO and CLO.
  • Assign responsibilities, develop functional roles, and oversee operations of the CCE, Business Services and Partnerships Division
  • Provide administrative oversight for five departments:
    1. State Agency Services
    2. Contracted Management Services
    3. Business Development
    4. Government and Legislative Affairs
    5. International Business Services
  • Supervise implementation of the NBCC and Affiliates Strategic Plan relevant to the CCE and Business Services and Partnerships Division.
  • Manage the business operations of the Division.
  • Develop, improve and implement financial tracking, budget implementation and oversight processes aligned with the Division's responsibilities.
  • Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate management reports for the CEO, COO and Board of Directors for CCE and NBCC.
  • Advise the Executive Leadership Team in business matters pertaining to long-range master planning for leveraging credentials through strategic partnerships and expanding services to state and association boards.
  • Develop and oversee policies and procedures to guide the work of the Division
  • Oversee strategic partnership development.
  • Participate in the ongoing development, implementation and evaluation of the NBCC and Affiliates Strategic Plan.
  • Facilitate and participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of a CCE Board approved Annual Strategic Business Development Plan.
  • Provide organizational information and logistical support necessary for the Boards of Directors for NBCC and Affiliates to meet governance responsibilities.
  • Implement all ratified orders and resolutions of the CCE Board of Directors as directed by the CEO, COO, and/or CLO Ensures that all division, departmental and program practices are aligned with the organizational vision, mission, Bylaws and approved policies.
  • Ensure partnership and service agreement deliverables are completed effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with key local, state, regional, national and international networks and organizations.
  • Ensure that departments and programs are appropriately staffed within the confines of organizational resources
  • Ensure procedures are implemented and maintained which enable sound fiscal management, accurate reporting, and reduce risk to the safety and stability of the organizational funds, physical assets and other property.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of CCE staff, recommends personnel actions such as hiring, training, rewarding, disciplining and terminating staff
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in management and leadership positions.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with demonstrated effective service development, marketing and delivery.
  • Evidence of effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including clear feedback, team building, collaboration, and intra-organizational cooperation.
  • Commitment to self-development through continuous learning, position related training and professional development;
  • Demonstrate mastery with use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Business acumen regarding products, client relationships, and customer service preferred.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
