Description

Scope: The Ammo Material Handler will perform physical tasks to transport or store materials or merchandise. Duties involve one or more of the following: manually loading or unloading freight cars, trucks, or other transporting devices; unpacking, shelving, or placing items in proper storage locations; or transporting goods by forklift, hand truck, cart, or wheelbarrow.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists Warehouse Specialists conduct inventories, location surveys, issues, and turn-ins.
  • Assists Warehouse Specialists maintain and update magazine data cards, ammunition store slips, storage plan-O-graphs and other related documents.
  • Observe policy, procedures and regulatory guidance for explosive safety and physical security.
  • Operates forklifts and other Material Handling Equipment to load/offload/move material.
  • Performs 100% inspection of all returned residue to ensure it is explosive free.
  • Observes strict key control procedures.
  • Polices the ASP, to include the fence line inside and out.
  • Performs daily PMCS on all government furnished and/or leased equipment operated.
  • Supports/Participates in Company Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and QA Program.
  • Participates in training and cross-training sessions as required or necessary.
  • Complies with all Company rules, policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all safety, environmental & quality standards & applicable COPs / DOPs.
  • Provides for accountability and proper care of all GFE / CFE.
  • Favorably interacts with internal / external customers.
  • Must complete and pass five ammo classes required to work in the ASP: AMMO-45, AMMO-63, AMMO-64, AMMO-67, and AMMO-75
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills & Qualifications Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year verifiable material handling experience military (MOS 55B20) or equivalent skill in other military services or civilian equivalent.
  • Must meet the certification requirements of IMCOM Regulations.
  • Knowledgeable in ammunition handling, storage, procedures and regulations.
  • Basic understanding of supply and warehouse operations.
  • Ability to use small hand tools and the following material handling equipment: hand truck, cart, or wheelbarrow.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
  • Must possess a valid Louisiana driver's license (non- Louisiana residents must obtain the proper driver's license within 10 days of beginning work).
  • Must be able to obtain an operator's permit for each type of vehicle or equipment required to operate including electric and diesel powered forklifts.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.

Special Physical/Work Conditions:

  • Will be required to work daily in an ammunition & explosive storage area.
  • May be exposed to and have to work with hazardous chemicals.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs with or without accommodation.
  • Must utilize all proper lifting procedures and practices.
  • Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and strenuous conditions.
  • Must be able to meet short suspense dates.
  • Must be able to conduct work in the out-of-doors area with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions i.e. extreme temperatures, low humidity, rain and blowing sand and dust.
  • Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of stooping; climbing; standing; and sitting for long periods of uninterrupted time.
  • May require shift work.
  • May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • During the usual work period, the worker may be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable.
