Description

Paychex of New York LLC seeks a full time Middleware Engineer II at our offices located at 675 Basket Road, Webster, NY 14580.

Job Description:

Middleware Engineer II responsible for troubleshooting, installing, configuring, and maintaining middleware and applications in support of business requirements including middleware and web environment design and implementations, performing upgrades, providing complex technical support, and identifying and automating resolution to availability and performance failures throughout the environment. Additional position responsibilities include creating and implementing build and operational automation in accordance to continuous delivery practices and principals.

Duties include:

  • Design, implementation, maintenance and administration of the following environments: large Weblogic 11G and 12C environments; large directory server environments; complex enterprise business environments; HA middleware web server environments.
  • Testing Disaster Recovery Solutions for middleware environments.
  • Monitoring, patching and configuration of middleware and web server environments.
  • Provide technical support for various production and development web and application server environments during critical and non-critical business hours on middleware and applications.
  • Perform functions to administer middleware system access and work with Enterprise Data and Information Security and Change Management to ensure internal controls compliance.
  • Attend infrastructure as code reviews and test code on implementation test servers and support of production code implementations.
  • Develop and implement complex middleware and web automaton scripts.
  • Deploy, configure, and support complex middleware and applications (Corporate and Third-Party) in physical and virtual computing environments for use by internal and external systems.
  • Perform complex middleware and application (Corporate and Third-Party) software upgrades as well as periodic health checks in accordance with established corporate policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain technical reference documentation to be used in support and training of Information Technology (IT) personnel.
  • Identify and automate the resolution to availability and performance failures throughout the environment.
  • Participate in the creation of corporate standards, best practices, and roadmaps for IT systems and technologies, and in creation of designs for corporate IT systems.
 
Position Requirements

Position Requirements:

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field, plus 3 years of experience in middleware administration. (In the alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree plus five years of progressive experience as described.)

Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include:

  • 2 years installing and configuring middleware and webserver software;
  • 1 year utilizing Microsoft IIS, Apache Web Server Administration and iPlanet Webserver
  • 1 year utilizing version control repositories and build automation scripting leveraging version control repositories;
  • 2 years of experience of F5 Load balancer and networking concepts;
  • 2 years of experience of Middleware and web/app server HA design, build and implementation in large production environments spanning multiple data centers;
  • 2 years experience utilizing JMS, JDBC, deployments and clustering of middleware components
  • 1 year developing and testing backup and recovery processes to ensure high availability and recoverability of middleware environments;
  • 1 year customer technical support experience;
  • 2 years developing middleware infrastructure designs to meet project objectives;
  • 2 years of experience in Change Management, ITIL concepts, and application server management;
  • Position requires participation in off-hours support rotation.
