Description

Under the direction of the Custodial Site Supervisor, the Custodial Lead is directly responsible for supervision of custodial staff and for satisfying all daily and periodic requirements of scope of work. Provides manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of buildings. Typical duties may include some or all of the following: dust mopping, sweeping, wet mopping, dusting, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, polishing furniture and simple operation of basic mechanical cleaning equipment. The Custodial Lead will ensure that the entire area is cleaned to contract specifications with final outcome of a clean contracted area that will pass Health Department regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ability to prioritize work ensuring the job scope is being accomplished on a daily basis.
2. Evaluate and inspect the performance to guarantee quality assurance.
3. Review time study standards to ensure they are recognized for all applicable work performed and are reviewed annually. Will ensure that changes to scope, material, method or environment that can impact standards are addressed and standards are reviewed and revised as needed.
4. Perform time studies and ensure they are completed accurately, on-time and employees receive correct wages at all times in compliance will all applicable Department of Labor regulations.
5. Recommends changes in personnel and equipment as necessary.
6. Attends training as necessary to update knowledge of latest innovations in custodial field.
7. Maintains inventory of all supplies and submits purchase orders for new supplies and equipment needed.
8. Provides manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of buildings. Typical duties may include: dusting, mopping, sweeping, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, polishing furniture and simple operation of basic mechanical cleaning equipment.
9. Ability to work with adults with disabilities to ensure they have an opportunity to develop the skills necessary to prepare them for future employment opportunities within the community and to achieve the goals established in their Vocational and Individual Service Plans.
10. Have knowledge and ability to properly mix of the chemicals used for cleaning of contract.
11. Notify supervisor of any problems.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
• Ability to care, respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Must encompass professional demeanor.
• Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
• A valid driver’s license and a driving history are required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: 1 year experience as a supervisor working in custodial field.
• Preferred: Prior experience with developmentally disabled individuals.
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification is required within 90 days of hire.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk 80% of the work day.
• Frequent bending, standing, lifting.
