CLAIR TAPPAAN LODGE is a rustic mountain lodge located at 7,000’ on historic Donner Summit in the greater Lake Tahoe Area. Guests and staff enjoy easy access to skiing and snowboarding in the winter, world-class hiking, climbing and mountain biking in the summer, and spectacular mountain views every day.

The LEAD COOK position is a year-round position. In Winter and Summer seasons overtime is required at times, while in the Spring and Fall extended time off is a possibility. Split shifts are typical in order to prepare and serve breakfast and dinner. A flexible personality and the ability to handle stressful situations and strict timetables with a smile is a must as exceptional guest service is paramount in our operation.


  • Plan, prepare, execute and serve menus for family style breakfasts and dinners each day
  • Plan, prepare, set up and break down self-serve lunch bar each morning
  • Plan, prepare, execute and serve meals for special events
  • Order and receive food and kitchen supply deliveries
  • Train Assistant Cook and Kitchen Assistants on food prep, cleaning and storage techniques
  • Greet, interact and instruct guests assisting in dining room and kitchen set up and clean up
  • Other duties as directed including duties outside of the food service department
Position Requirements


  • Two year minimum in all aspects of a professional food service operation
  • Serve Safe Managers Certificate or Food Handler Certificate
  • Strong communication, organization and training skills
  • Computer Literate
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Able to work varying shifts, weekends, evenings and holidays in varying weather conditions
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to prioritize and work in fast-paced environment
  • Able to give direction and work in team environment
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean 3-year history and no DUI convictions in the past 10 years.
